I heard nothing about this. Why does this scare off other teams?

It's not impossible that both Samsonov and Woll could be on the shelf at some point during the season. A veteran 3rd is reassuring.
No clue. But I am glad it did. Because I am sure he would have gotten claimed otherwise. He was good this preseason.

Wonder if it was just a Dubas thing where other GMs had fun f***ing with him.

Whoever decided to put in that 100K clause in his contract was a f***ing genius and clearly scared the shit out of other teams wanting to claim him.

He just sucks. A good pre-season doesn't change the last 5 years. He's a fine 3rd stringer with experience. Hildeby and Petruzzelli hopefully will have the majority of the starts with the Marlies.

Minten gets to play against his buddy Bedard in the third game of the season. They will probably line up against each other a few times. That’s pretty cool.

I hope we don't need him but Woll and Samsonov looked suspect as hell in pre-season lol.

CP24 ticker says Murray had hip surgery and in is out 6-8 months, McBackup and Muzz hired.
That injury will definitely keep him out until the 8 month mark... whether he's healed or not lol.

Thought it was a great way to do that contract too. I didn't realize they had done that. Really nice to have a decent 3rd goalie who's a vet.

That's okay but I don't think he entirely sucks. Having him is nice insurance and he's a vet.

God forbid but if Sammy goes down and Woll is the guy for a while... its nice to have a guy who's been through a lot to help guide Woll a bit if needs be.

I still think the younger goalies on the Marlies will get plenty of starts.

As someone said earlier Leafs actually have some nice depth in goal for once.

He's fine as a 3rd stringer. But he cleared because his NHL abilities are not very good at all and teams know this.

His save percentage the last 5 years hasn't been great but close to 900 for a third string is fine.

I'm not seeing the downside here really. Depth is nice.

There is no downside for clearing waivers. There was little to panic about if he got claimed either. Some made it a big deal for some reason. That's about it.

Curious if they're required to use SOIR with McMann or if they can just keep him on their roster and LTIR him tomorrow.

If they send Knies ($925) down for the roster deadline and call up Clifford ($762.5), they're ~$5k shy of the cap with McMann's full cap hit ($762.5), maximising their space under Muzzin/Murray's LTIR.

He's a hell of a lot better than Jonas Johansson, lol.

Maybe the claiming Leafs players every f***ing time was just a Dubas-centric obsession the rest of the NHL had.

Everyone thought Kyle was a smary bell end. So, so glad he is gone.

It is nice to have a GM who thinks outside the box and seems determined to give youth a chance.

I am hoping they move Robertson as well. I've never seen anything in him to justify being put next to Matthews and Marner on a paper lineup, like most.
