Wonder if it was just a Dubas thing where other GMs had fun f***ing with him.

Everyone thought Kyle was a smary bell end. So, so glad he is gone.

It is nice to have a GM who thinks outside the box and seems determined to give youth a chance.

I am hoping they move Robertson as well. I've never seen anything in him to justify being put next to Matthews and Marner on a paper lineup, like most.
It honestly did feel like those waiver claims were deliberate, and it did make me question how Dubas was perceived by the other GM’s.

No way to prove anything but I’m relieved Dubas is gone, and we kept all our waived players.

Am I missing something or did Cowan make the team, at least until Timmins is back?

Actually looks like they haven't signed Gregor yet.

Don't read anything into any roster until 5 PM tomorrow. Leafs are just trying to get as close to the 83.5 ceiling as possible by 5 PM today and then can't finalize the actual game 1 roster until tomorrow at 5 PM. The number they've agreed on with Gregor must be not very usable for that purpose so they wait until tomorrow to sign him and use Cowan and McMann in the meantime. Cowan likely gets sent back tomorrow and McMann probably doesn't stick around either. 1 of Holmberg, Robertson or someone else could come back up to fill out the 21 man roster along with Gregor

Got it, thanks. Thought the deadline was 5 pm today.

The deadline to set your cap compliant season opening roster was today. But you can then change it tomorrow, and again the day after etc, etc. So outside of having to get under the cap todays roster is essentially meaningless.

The way you initially become cap compliant using LTIR matters, and it's done by trying to get as close as possible to the ceiling without the injured players. So whatever 21 guys the Leafs used for this purpose is kind of irrelevant to the roster that will be playing on Wednesday.

I haven't watched much but I imagine Cowan would go down to the OHL and they will sign Gregor and bring up Holmberg as the 13th forward before opening night? That would get them 106 k above the cap with 13 forwards, 6 D, 2 G assuming around an 800 k cap hit for Gregor.

Not sure how they get Timmins on the roster when he's healthy. His 1.1 m would be too much unless they go with with 11 forwards, 7 D.

Well let's be honest here. I am 1000% certain somebody would have taken Jones if it wasn't for that 100K payout claim clause.

He was really good this preseason.
He played well in a two games against the Belleville Senators and Laval Rockets. His body of work over the last 4-5 years is probably why he didn't get claimed.

Maybe we can offer Matt Murray a job as Director of Pylon Deployment - MLSE Properties.

……. Or we can get Dubas to offer a 1st for him when he’s healed and feeling better. He did win a Stanley Cup in Pittsburgh dontchaknow?!?!?!

No way to prove anything but I’m relieved Dubas is gone, and we kept all our waived players.

Teams don't claim players they don't like.

If Leafs waived anything of value teams would have claimed them.

I wonder if the timing of the Matt Murray operation announcement is because Murray held out a glimmer of hope that some organization would take a flyer on him. Sounds like this is a chronic problem he's looking to repair, probably something dating back as far as his Pittsburgh days when the decline set in. Best of luck to him. I believe they're still perfecting the surgical treatment of that type of problem. They made an utter mess of knees in the 1970s but now those knees can be brought back to some reasonable percentage of the original performance. Maybe these hips can be the same thing.

How many Pens were claimed this year?
