Hm had forget that conditional 1st pick. Man lose the EFC final this year would suck so ****ing hard.

I see very few Canadian prospects his size. Big talented Canadians go early. Jason Dickinson was a similar player in last years draft, he went late first but had a great post draft season and would maybe go much higher if that draft was held again. I think some teams see that this time around.
So do I but I can see some teams go with a CHL player over others.

hey bn, thoughts on kootenays rinat valiev. similar game to our old friend fedor tyutin. plays for a solid coach in ryan mcgill who knows a bit about defense.
offensive dman with some snarl. 6'1 195 frame. good shot. good skater.
perhaps a guy whos worth a shot in round 3

Most mocks that I've been in have seen him go from late 5th to late 7th rounder. I think there is better talent in the 3rd round, but definitely a solid steal in the later rounds.

I like him and don't think he gets nearly the respect he should. He's not as hyped or well rounded as some talents and he seems to be a kid who is lost in the shuffle a little bit. He's got a higher percentage of being a bust pick than some of the players in his range, but he also has a chance to be a guy that other teams wonder how they missed.
The pros - he's a kid who seems to want it. He's committed to playing in the NHL and he's hungry to learn. He engages the opposition and his offensive instincts are very, very good. He sees the ice very well, reads defenses well and did a very good job of using his linemates - not an easy task on a rebuilding team. He's got a good frame to grow into and he moves very smooth. It's not just speed or agility with him, it is fluidity.
The Cons - he needs to get stronger, especially if he is willing to engage other players physically. Physically, he reminds me of Anisimov at the same age. Both guys were below average in strength heading into their draft years. He needs to commit to his own end, he was not consistent in that area. I'd also like to see him bring it every night. He raised the bar for himself and now he has to raise his linemates to his level, not downshift to match them. That could be developed as his team improves around him. Still, I think he's going to be the kind of guy who needs energetic linemates to raise his game.
Overall he's right in the mix when we'd pick. Other guys have higher odds of being NHL players, or are closer to being NHL guys. But I think he's closer to the top end of the draft when it comes to natural talent.

He could be Tyutin's twin
Looks just like him, but plays a bit of a different defensive game. I like his size and his compete level, throws'em when needed as well. He is a bit older than most in this draft. I like his chances in the middle rounds. 4th rounder if I had to guess.

Jared McCann, Connor Bleakley, and Adrian Kempe should all be available in that range.

McCann, Larkin, Kempe, Fabbri, Bleackley, Tuch, Milano, Schmaltz, and Cornel are a few examples for lower 1st round potential. IMO would't want Schmaltz, Cornel might fall into the 2nd, and Milano is more known for wing. McCann is a sure fire top 15 pick, as well as Tuch. Kempe might jump ahead or further back same goes with Bleackley and Fabbri. Larkin I would say is solid at our spot. It'll be interesting what NYR would do, seeing that we have this pick.

Fabbri has been playing great hockey. I think teams will overlook his size and he'll get picked in the 13-17 range.
As far as Centers go, I don't see McCann & Kempe being around. Bleakley might be there. Ryan Macinnis is a Center that will be there, but he was underwhelming this year IMO.
I still like Center Eric Cornel as a 1st round riser. There are about 5 or 6 players I like for our spot, depending on who lasts until our pick.

Fabbri's a must if he's around.
MacInnis would be a reach beyond epic proportion and would bring more fan rage than the McIlrath pick. The guy only shows up when his father's name and his ass is on the line in the spotlight.
Cornel has first round talent, just never gets any press with Ritchie.

I like Draisaitl, but ranking him #1 is ballsy.
I like Kempe and Tuch, but I think both will be gone. Honka will likely go early given the lack of high-end defenders in the top of the draft. I think it'll come down to Scherbak or Larkin.

Anyone have any thoughts on Keegan Iverson as a 3rd round target? I think he's a borderline 3rd/4th rounder, but I doubt he'd be around when we pick in the 4th unless we moved around a bit. Like the attitude and his love for physical play. I think there's a nice package of raw talent that can be molded. Skating leaves a bit to be desired, but it's not bad.

I would like anyone that's not named DeAngelo, McKeown, and Schmaltz to be completely honest. Schmaltz is Boyle 2.0, DeAngelo has too many off-ice issues for a 1st round selection, and McKeown at the beginning of the year was a top 10 pick and dropped off to the late 1st round projection. Don't want a faller, I'd rather a riser like Tuch, Scherbak, Honka, and such.

He's a strong kid, not a great skater. He needs alot of work but has the tools to be a hard nosed 3rd liner.
Yeah me too. I see a little Brassard and a little Dubinsky mix to his game. Hands are spectacular.
