Hello all. As you probably know I've been away for some time. I'd like to share some things....

When I left my struggles with my mental health were piling up, during the pandemic it worsened, as I lost my job, my home and it reached the point where I couldn't leave the house and didn't do so in over 2 years, and had difficulty doing daily self-care functions.

A year ago, my dad got sick and I had a complete breakdown, I spent 14 months on long-term disability unable to even do my job which is a work from home position. I underwent EMDR therapy for trauma while off work and after a gradual return to work, I am back to work full-time and feel the best mentally that I've felt in many years (maybe it's the handful of drugs I have to take every day too). This past week my recovery has been tested, as we found out last week that my dad is now terminal, and I didn't break again. So that's kinda why I'm back, sports are a positive thing for me and I don't feel like I'm spiraling, so I thought it was "safe" for me to return again.

I know I was an asshole before I left, my anxiety was causing a great deal of paranoia. I can't promise I still won't be an asshole sometimes, because I'm still going to be blunt, but I do think things will be different.

Also, if any of you are struggling, please get help. It can really make a.massive difference.

Thanks for your time.

Sorry to hear about your struggles. But I am glad to see you back, my friend.

Finished repairing the small pier we have at our cottage today. 1 hour job, three trips over 4 days to local hardware store because 1) they didn't have the bolts I needed, 2) they had the wrong sized bolts in the box for the bolts I needed, and finally 3) ordered a full box of bolts online (last sunday) for pickup to make sure I get what I need. Except they didn't have those either and I had to wait until today.

That's a 23 year old pier that's almost completely broken, and we should totally redesign and rebuilt it. Feels like the Flames sometimes, a total rebuilt is needed but the cheapass owner looking me at the mirror just tries to fix things and hope it lasts for one more year.

Kinda like...

You can use all the quality rope and boards/beams you want. But f*** you if you want to spend quality money on the bolts, screws or screwdriver/impact driver?

The core is old and starting to fall apart. You can try to fix it some new parts but you know you have to do it again next year. Why not just admit that a completely new one is better, even though it is gonna cost you money.

Car engine gave up the ghost on me today (2017 WRX with 70,000 km)

Let me let you recommend me a fun, reliable car under $30k. Auto so the wife can drive it too.
Calgary Transit hahahahaha. Then again they aren’t reliable in the slightest…

In all honesty I’ve never needed a car for work thankfully and not planning to start anytime soon. Just total money suckers.

I had a 2017 Mazda 6 for 4 years. Really liked it. 2014 Mazda 3 for 3 years before that, cant complain about that either. Never had any problems.

Jeep Wrangler. Most fun you can have with your clothes still on.

Actually my Impreza died on me too and I replaced it with a Jeep. This was in 2020 so right before any shortages, so I lucked out there. I'm still really enjoying driving it and it's been 3 years since I got it. If buying new, I'd recommend contacting all the dealerships outside of the city. Cochrane was such a pleasure to deal with compared to any local dealerships.

#26 done f***ed up in that preview image of that vid

IDK why I know about this competition before this video, but I do. And I have this weird feeling I knew of this video around the same time I learned about the iceman, Wim Hof.

You compete? ;) ;)

Btw, Ik ppl say Hungarian and Finnish don’t really sound all that similar, but I can kind of hear it tbh (don’t speak Hungarian since my mother never taught it, but just based off how I remember it sounding).

I throw my family on my back every day. They don't quite have a competition for that one. ;)

You're part Hungarian? Did you ever drink a wine brand called Tokaji? I used to buy it a lot in Calgary. Reasonably priced sweet muscat wine. I think I haven't had it in almost a decade now. I used to drink it straight or like a heathen, I'd pour it on ice or a 4:1 wine to soda water ratio with a splash of lemon juice and/or black current syrup. Kinda like a variation of kir.

Mmm. Hungarian food. I likes a good goulash and chicken paprikash with a lot of sour cream. :)
