*Yawns* one more month and then hopefully the amount of days I need to be in the office past midnight drop below zero again.

That sucks. I know the salaries in NA are generally higher (and taxes maybe lower) but I just love working from home. Also only 7h15min a day, and anything you work over that is automatically tracked as overtime, so you can stop earlier sometimes, or take few days off after the balance is high enough.

I don't mind the office as it's not too long of a commute for me. It's nice having a fixed place of work that I don't have to worry the kids can go to disrupt. I can do hybrid if I want, but for something like this, I'd rather be in office vs at home, especially since I meet clients.

This year is just a special gong show. Some of the government information isn't showing up properly and we have to do extra work to follow up. I mean, I could shrug and move on, but that's not the ethos we stand by. We do things properly.

Now that I'm getting groceries at superstore, I've been trying random ramen from the international section.

Today I ate this:

Nearly had to shower after lunch, the vapours alone were spicy. I've been finished for a couple hours and the back of my throat is still kind of burning.

Toilet time tomorrow will be un-fun.

Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Just in a cafe in Riga saw someone in Flames gear with an airport-tagged bag and a laptop. Definitely had an organization employee, rather than fan vibe. He left pretty soon after I noticed him and didn't have a chance to talk (he seemed in a rush tho). Pretty sure he was a native-speaking English, he briefly chatted with the shop assistant.

Any idea who it might be? I assume scout

With the IIHF World Championships in Latvia, possibly someone on the administrative side making arrangements for the main staff?

Did he look like any of these people? HOCKEY OPERATIONS

Might be a bit early for a scout to be there, but maybe not. :dunno:

Interesting. No idea who that might be, but I would have assumed that scouts dont want to be recognined and wouldnt wear team gear.

Feels too early for WC as Flames were just still fighting for a playoff spot... but I really don't know. If anyone, I'd say the closest lookalike was Derek MacKinnon but I really wouldn't bet on it.

As far as scouting goes, Rainers Rullers just finished season here in Latvia and I think he has potential. Or some other from the national teams training camp. But I really don't know, lol.

Yeah, makes sense. Just couldn't thought of who else might be here. As any WC organisational thing feels to early but might very well be it. I remember when Hartley arrived in Riga he was with the Flames bag even tho he was not with your org anymore :D

Sigalet kinda looks like Mackinnon in those profile pics. Could it possibly be him?

Sigalet went to Europe to scout goalies a few times in the past. IIRC, he scouted Rittich himself. He's basically the goalie scout now. TBH, Sigalet has found a few gems for goalies in the past. It just seems like the development part is slightly lacking.

I'd have more to say, but it's almost 2 AM and I was just taking a short decompression break. I'm going home and starting up again in about 6 hours.

This is the best spicy noodles. The broth is like glowing red, demonic.

This doesnt happen every year, but some years the springtime weather is just perfect. Easter is always a 4-day weekend here, and it was like this almost every day. The snow on the ice melts during the day a bit because of sunshine and then freezes rock solid at night, so in the day you can walk there without snowshoes and enjoy sunshine. This wont last more than a week or so, because it gets too warm.

They were good, but the spice was amped up a notch too high for me. Maybe I leave the pepper flakes out next time.

Shin Black though, that's a winner right there. *chef's kiss*

If you can handle some spicy... Shin Ramyun with some butter. Yum.

Costco also has a Japanese pork tonkatsu bowl that's tasty too.

I need a sofa and there's one at Ikea that's good enough. I've been thinking for couple of weeks ordering it, but I just found out that the assebly manual is 52 pages

Maybe I'll spend a bit more money a buy sofa from somewhere else where I dont have to build it myself.

I think you get the point

Speaking of paying for flights, my partner and I am going to Europe in a few weeks. Haven’t been since my grandmother emigrated around a decade ago (and she’s never been). Another travel plan that COVID ruined, but it’s here. I’m very excited, and since the flames sucked dick there is no way hockey will be the slightest distraction.

I was going to try to make a joke about England and france being the Finland of Western Europe but I couldn’t come up with anything lol.

I’d want to go someday, but not in the cards this time. Have a lot of respect for your people too. Did some reading up on the winter war. Heroic stuff to say the least.

France is a nice place, I have some family there in the south near the Spanish border and Mediterranean. We used to take a flight from Helsinki to Barcelona and then drive north to France to visit them, but it's been 10 years at least since my last visit. Few visits to Andorra as well during that time.

Random, but have you ever watched "The Great" on Amazon Prime?

@Kahvi get this man a ticket to Finland and a 6 pack
lol not even close worth it, the price of beer is crazy now because of inflation and other stuff.

I decided to get the sofa from from another furniture store, should be better but costs a bit more. And it comes in three pieces.
