The Quiet Corner
Things with my dad have worsened.

His social worker called me today to tell me he was on the bring of being involuntarily hospitalized, but their hands are tied. She made me aware of a petition I could file with the police department to force the issue and have him taken for an evaluation.

It was one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do.

I'm sure I'll be the "bad guy", but I have his best interests at heart.

I'm sorry.

I've been reading your posts about your dad and I know at one time you were quite hopeful that he had turned the corner. Having him go back must be agony after all that hope. :(

Finally have heat and hot water!

May not sound like much but after 5 days Im grateful.

It really is the little things we take for granted.

One - safety - we had 6 space heaters to monitor and keep pipes from freezing.

Two - continue to have access to multi day job for technicians.

Three - The Bride would never abandon her dogs. Me? yes . But not them.

I remember when we had the ice storm in 2008??
we were without power for like 12 days. sucked. but for some reason we never stayed at a hotel. probably because we didn't have kids then. Also that winter was so much colder.

I remember just using my gym membership to take a shower and leave.

also- thank god for the woodstove. that sucker amazing kept the house above 60 as long as we sporadically tossed in some wood now and then.

holy crap !

An explosive device was detonated near a Boston police cruiser in South Boston Friday morning.

“It was a deliberate act with the intent of blowing up one of the cruisers,’’ Evans said. “It’s troubling.’’

Evans said the Joint Terrorism Task Force has been called in to help with the investigation.

He said the device was a propane tank positioned beside the cruiser parked on West Broadway near the Area C-6 police station around 8:15 a.m

Woke up at 3am to dwindling heat. Went down there to see what was up and restart the furnace. No dice. Though I did step in dog poop.

Got up at 6 with the house REALLY cold and fixed it myself by 6:45am.

The problem was that I had the HVAC folks out recently to replace a bad igniter and they apparently did not terminate one of the electrical wires properly. It ran fine all weekend, but apparently the wire came loose some time last night and the igniter wasn't getting juice. So I fixed that this morning after I got up the nerve to shut down the furnace and get in there with a screwdriver. 6am handyman to the rescue.

I've been to all those places except Saint John (Bay Of Fundy) not via cruise but over the years road tripping and taking the Cat from Bar Harbor. Not gonna lie I was bored out of my mind in all those places but that's just me. Pretty but boring and it was years ago so who knows things may have changed.
