Us asthmatics sure don't miss it. Nothing like pounding a Big Mac meal and sucking back some Ventolin to negate the second hand in my lungs.

Where do you live. I'm unemployed right now and cheap.
Ventolin was as bad for your lungs as the smoke that caused you to use your inhaler, but I feel your pain, it was a different era.............

The high school I went to had a student smoking lounge…
so did mine, although you had to go outside to the toking area if you wanted to smoke the good stuff.........

I'm pretty sure Salbutamol - if not abused - has little to no side effects and certainly nothing as bad as smoking. I've been using it for almost 40 years now.

This long Covid isn’t going away for me. I’ve had it now for over a year. I’ve been off work six weeks now with severe nausea. I would rather be at work than dealing with this crap (and I have a sucky job lol).

Sorry to hear man, that really sucks. I had it for a bit too, but mine only lasted a couple of months.

I've been doing okay with the nic pouches for quitting, almost 20 years at about a pack a day.

I started doing 10 a day, scaling back by two every week, currently at 8/, haven't had a cig in about two weeks and I'll drop it down to 6/ and a lower nicotene dosage on Friday.

Kind of realizing though it's not the smoking itself entirely but the habits around it that I've gotta break; no more waking up, pouring a coffee and having a few smokes in the morning, I usually try to wait 30-60 minutes before popping my first pouch. Things like waiting a bit after meals, not having one before bed etc., are also helping.

I'm already noticing my skin becoming more smooth and no tickle in my throat when I try to sleep.

Not as a health thing since outwardly at least I'm in good shape, not as a money thing since my brand is cheap, but it's just time. I'd like to quit wholesale in 2-3 weeks but even if I can get to a place where I'm using them intermittently, like 1-2 a day, it's a win.

As for drinking I've pretty much had to cut it back to 2 days a week max out of necessity. Can I still drink like I did when I was 23? Yeah I can, more even. What I can't do is drink like I did at 23 and do anything productive before 3 PM the next day or get a full uninterrupted 7 hours.

Hey guys, I’m having hernia surgery at Shouldice Clinic in Thornhill in a few weeks. Does anyone here have any experience with the clinic, the surgery, recovery, etc? Just curious what exactly I can expect.

I smoked a pack a day for 30+ years, but quit cold turkey 3 1/2 years ago and haven't touched one since.

I used the current stop smoking drug but powered through all of the periods where it made smoking taste crappy. Any time I tried to quit while on it, I failed miserably. I thought I'd never quit, then one day around dinner time I realized that I hadn't smoked yet that day. I decided to see how long I could keep that up, and I'm still going 3 1/2 years later.

I still get the odd craving from time to time, but they are mild and more curious/funny than anything else. I don't even consider myself an ex-smoker, I consider myself a non-smoker.

There are different kinds of hernias so you'd have to me more specific. I had surgery for the groin hernia, and hurt for a few days but was then fine.

Yeah I have the same one, it’s right above my groin. I believe it’s called an inguinal hernia. From what I’ve heard the recovery generally lasts anywhere from 10 days to a few weeks.

I was just wondering if anyone had experienced the procedure specifically at Shouldice and what their experience was like.

That isn't even remotely true.

I was sore as hell for a few days and was completely fine afterwards.

A colleague had the same surgery as me the same week as me, and he had his done there. He went into work that evening.

Okay great, that sounds perfectly fine by me. The initial pain only lasting a couple days would be welcome news.

I’m a construction worker so I don’t imagine I’ll be able to go to work the next day but ultimately we’ll see what happens I guess. Thanks for the insight.

Montreal. USA vs Finland and Finlad vs Sweden
13th and 15th. 13th is my birthday.

Where can I get a Hakanpaa jersey? lol
That's awesome.
Was thinking of getting some as well but seemed really expensive, going to wait and see if resale can be had cheap.
Love to see the Canada/US game on the 15th.

That would be nice, but tickets for that game were starting in high $400s. I am okay not to pay that. Especially since Im going to LA to watch the Leafs in March. My hockey budget is blown wide ope for this year. Plus the 1pm game means I can drive back same night and not spend on another hotel night etc.

File this under -- that was cool:

So I ordered a new Yamaha 5.1 surround sound amp since the previous one that I bought in 2007 finally died (man, did I get my monies worth out of that thing).

I put it in the check out box 2 nights ago but never actually ordered, seeing as how I had to run it by the wifeage first. I came back tonight to order it and to my happy surprise, $100 bucks was knocked off the price as it's now an item in their pre-boxong day sale.

Glad I didn't order it 2 nights ago as I likely would never have got that deal.

Not sure how many people play DFS or online poker but recently there was a court case that is arguing to bring back Ontario's participation in the global pool.

It's pretty crazy to think that anywhere in Canada outside of Ontario and you're able to play on Draftkings or Pokerstars (global pool) but Ontario people are banned.

Don't really play anymore but I used to play a LOT. I did know about this situation for Ontario and it's a sick joke. Makes me feel bad for anyone who relied on poker for some (or all) of their income before this hit. Reminds me of when I was playing poker for a living in Europe about 20 years or so ago and then one day out of the blue, a law was passed in the US which made it so difficult for US players to play that people thought it was against the law. Since US players were the big losers overall, the income of online poker pros (including myself) all over the world plummeted overnight. I remember the thread that was started on the subject in an online poker forum was appropriately titled "The Day The Music Died".
