Us asthmatics sure don't miss it. Nothing like pounding a Big Mac meal and sucking back some Ventolin to negate the second hand in my lungs.

Where do you live. I'm unemployed right now and cheap.
Ventolin was as bad for your lungs as the smoke that caused you to use your inhaler, but I feel your pain, it was a different era.............

The high school I went to had a student smoking lounge…
so did mine, although you had to go outside to the toking area if you wanted to smoke the good stuff.........

I'm pretty sure Salbutamol - if not abused - has little to no side effects and certainly nothing as bad as smoking. I've been using it for almost 40 years now.

This long Covid isn’t going away for me. I’ve had it now for over a year. I’ve been off work six weeks now with severe nausea. I would rather be at work than dealing with this crap (and I have a sucky job lol).

Sorry to hear man, that really sucks. I had it for a bit too, but mine only lasted a couple of months.

I've been doing okay with the nic pouches for quitting, almost 20 years at about a pack a day.

I started doing 10 a day, scaling back by two every week, currently at 8/, haven't had a cig in about two weeks and I'll drop it down to 6/ and a lower nicotene dosage on Friday.

Kind of realizing though it's not the smoking itself entirely but the habits around it that I've gotta break; no more waking up, pouring a coffee and having a few smokes in the morning, I usually try to wait 30-60 minutes before popping my first pouch. Things like waiting a bit after meals, not having one before bed etc., are also helping.

I'm already noticing my skin becoming more smooth and no tickle in my throat when I try to sleep.

Not as a health thing since outwardly at least I'm in good shape, not as a money thing since my brand is cheap, but it's just time. I'd like to quit wholesale in 2-3 weeks but even if I can get to a place where I'm using them intermittently, like 1-2 a day, it's a win.

As for drinking I've pretty much had to cut it back to 2 days a week max out of necessity. Can I still drink like I did when I was 23? Yeah I can, more even. What I can't do is drink like I did at 23 and do anything productive before 3 PM the next day or get a full uninterrupted 7 hours.

Hey guys, I’m having hernia surgery at Shouldice Clinic in Thornhill in a few weeks. Does anyone here have any experience with the clinic, the surgery, recovery, etc? Just curious what exactly I can expect.

I smoked a pack a day for 30+ years, but quit cold turkey 3 1/2 years ago and haven't touched one since.

I used the current stop smoking drug but powered through all of the periods where it made smoking taste crappy. Any time I tried to quit while on it, I failed miserably. I thought I'd never quit, then one day around dinner time I realized that I hadn't smoked yet that day. I decided to see how long I could keep that up, and I'm still going 3 1/2 years later.

I still get the odd craving from time to time, but they are mild and more curious/funny than anything else. I don't even consider myself an ex-smoker, I consider myself a non-smoker.

There are different kinds of hernias so you'd have to me more specific. I had surgery for the groin hernia, and hurt for a few days but was then fine.

Yeah I have the same one, it’s right above my groin. I believe it’s called an inguinal hernia. From what I’ve heard the recovery generally lasts anywhere from 10 days to a few weeks.

I was just wondering if anyone had experienced the procedure specifically at Shouldice and what their experience was like.

That isn't even remotely true.

I was sore as hell for a few days and was completely fine afterwards.

A colleague had the same surgery as me the same week as me, and he had his done there. He went into work that evening.

Okay great, that sounds perfectly fine by me. The initial pain only lasting a couple days would be welcome news.

I’m a construction worker so I don’t imagine I’ll be able to go to work the next day but ultimately we’ll see what happens I guess. Thanks for the insight.
