I think it's very healthy that you are recognizing and admitting your feelings.

Things change - sometimes for the worse, other times for the better.
I do what I can.

I'm not a spring chicken anymore but feel 15-20 years older than I actually am.
Yu sound like an amazing person.
This is flattering but wrong lol

It was this weekend in 1991 when I visited Pittsburgh with a friend of mine for the first time. Didn't know the city at all but he had been there several times. We stayed in a motel 6 in Crafton because I hadn't been working a lot...having finished my undergrad a year prior. Those were Bob Rae days and gainful jobs for undergraduates were nonexistant. We went to a huge sport bar with great suits and ties (had major game back in the day). My friend disappeared on me because he hooked up with an old girlfriend...as I found out the next day. I was wasted as hell but had a girl on each arm most if the night. When he disappeared, I had no idea where in the city I was nor did I remember what or where the motel was. I was adopted by 2 sisters who told me they would take me home for a place to stay.
I didn't remember a lot of the ride because I fell asleep. I did wake up to discover a moving car but it was being propelled by a guy pushing it. Apparently they ran out of gas and their brother was called as they were close to their house.
I didn't know this but the sisters and the brother lived alone...a fact that might have dissuaded me from spending the night. I did have ambitious motives with the sisters but an angry brother wasn't something I relished.
In any event, the rest of the night worked out pretty good as they were fairly liberal siblings.
When I woke in the morning, I remember the motel and used their phone to call. Cell phones weren't yet a thing.i was connect to the room and my friend answered. He asked where the hell I was. I had no clue so I asked. It was then that I realized I was in West Virginia.

Is riding an ebike proof of abject failure?

I've noticed a few things about people who ride ebikes/escooters:

1. They are lazy. Why do they negate the exercise you can get if you just ride an actual bicycle?

2. They are not the most wise consumers. They fork out $3000 and then have to pay the same cost to replace the battery.

3. Makes me wonder how many have lost their licence due to drinking and driving and are forced to ride e.

4. Many use an ebike to deliver skip the dishes, etc. Not exactly the best job and many seem to do it desperately. They are the worst drivers on the road and they look down at their phones for navigation almost the entire time they ride through the city.

5. I'm sure drivers have more run-ins with them than they ever had with shitty cab drivers in the city.

Am i being too harsh?

It means you’re untraveled, never visited Europe and learned how great a service like Bolt or any tap and go rental system is.

I was in Barcelona last May, Mexico in January, etc. Just because I don't welcome lazy/unsafe modes of transportation with open arms doesn't mean my passport is collecting dust.

also not everyone rides a bike for fitness purposes and I have seen lots of people say that e-bikes make cycling more accessible for people with disabilities or mobility issue etc

The majority of the people I am talking about are able-bodied. If you have a disability and you need an ebike then fine. My biggest point is that if you're able you're really missing out on a great form of recreation/exercise.

Heading over to enemy lines tomorrow (Montreal) with the fam.. bio dome and all that fun stuff. Being left behind Friday while wife and kids drive back and I wait for friends to show up for weekend of Metallica, poutine and beers... Looking forward to hitting up good ol' Foufs again.

Montreal sub for what to do there has not been helpfull. Lol posted a week ago and no help from anyone there. (I've been before, just not since post COVID days and was just curious what they'd recommend)

Hurleys is the best pub in the city. Go to Rueben’s for Smoked Meat.
My wife is from there, been a 1000 times. If you need any specific recommendations send me a PM.

Tuesdays and Fridays we usually do 20-25 K, within the GTA. Saturdays or Sundays usually 50-60 a bit farther afield. For example, a couple of weeks ago we met in Erin, rode the rail trail to and around Lake Belwood, had lunch, then ride back.

Fun and good exercise, and it keeps me in shape for hockey.

There are some (younger) more serious type who will do 70-100K on a Saturday or Sunday, and some who will do an easier 30-40. But we're usually in groups of 6 to 20.
That’s fantastic. Real inspiration.

My old man worked on the Great Lakes and was gone for the shipping season when he came home at freeze up he always made a big purchase to announce his arrival. In the mid sixties he bought a huge cabinet stereo Roger Millers greatest hits was one of the three albums to come with it. Perry Como and Doris Day were the others I think. I could write the lyrics word for word of a lot of the songs .Engine Engine #9 was my favourite. Truly great singer.
Fortunately as the youngest of 6, Elvis, the Beatles stones etc records started to appear. Just cleaned out and sold the family homestead that monster was still there.View attachment 733622
After seeing this I’m now leaning more toward Brook Benton rather then the Kiss “Dressed to Kill” LP I had intended to PULL out & listen too.

I use mine as sort of a second vehicle to get to work since I can't drive. It's an 8 mile drive up some major fills so it's nice not to completely pedal that route.

Also, my replacement battery is about $300 dollars which is still cheaper than gas.

I mostly blame my wife.

I had been divorced for several years and my sons were in their early twenties when we met (one of my boys was playing in a band with her cousin). She's 12 years younger, and had been in the bike and ski clubs for years, so she told me if I wanted to stay with her I had to get cycling again (hadn't been on a bike in maybe ten years), and learn to ski.

I used to do a fair bit of cycling, so picking that up again was easy.

Skiing was different; I was 57 the first time I ever tried downhill. Fortunately I was still playing hockey a couple of times a week, so my balance and coordination were good, which really helped. Now we do a week in BC each year.

So far this morning I have eaten/drank

- 8 oreos
- one chocolate chip cookie
- a piece of chocolate babka
- 1 Gatorade zero
- 1 bowl of cheerios with almond milk (lmao)
- a giant piece of leftover eggplant calzone

I must say, it's really easy to find things to eat when you hate yourself and are really hungry.

Looking to upgrade my hifi at home.
Looking at purchasing a streamer and came across the eversolo.
Not sure of there are any audiophiles here but would be interested in opinions.

Does anyone know good animal hospitals near Burlington/Oakville area for dog? Our old pup likely needs a CT and surgery soon, trying to help the family out would appreciate it if anyone knows.

We went here Home when our dog was still with us, they were great.
We didn't have to experience surgery though, just routine Pet stuff.
