I was from the Houston area before moving to SoCal. I was a big Houston Oilers fan in the 90s and when they moved to Tennessee I followed them for a few seasons. Basically until the team was unrecognizable then that was it. If the Kings moved it would be similar and then I'd look for a more local team.
I'm pretty much here ^^^^.
After the Rams left L.A., within a few seasons I grew quite distant from them and football in general, and it really opened up my Sundays to do other things.
I got tired of L.A. being used as bait to get other teams their brand new shiny stadiums.
One of my initial gripes about this is that when the Cardinals moved to Phx, they should have never taken the name with them. Likewise when the Rams were driven into the ground and moved, the Rams name should have stayed in L.A. The Cardinals name would have been waiting for them in StL anyway.
It's like when Cleveland was without a team for a few years, the league stepped in and said the Browns name and records would stay in Cleveland until a new team was in town.
At least when your Oilers moved, they changed their name. But I must admit, the name "Texans" bugs me. What about Dallas? - aren't they Texan's too??
And sad to say, but if the Kings were ever to move (which I know is not possible - ever!), I would eventually end up being a Ducks fan. I just live too close to the pond to have to ignore them year after year. And in reality, the Ducks would end up moving away waaaaaay before the Kings ever contemplated it.
Although, in 20 years, with all the youth hockey programs the Ducks put on [our son is in it], they may surpass the Kings in number of fans. LA residents do not have the $$$ to keep playing hockey like south OC does.
