Well he started his career as a stand up comedian and alot of those don't do the greatest job of tacking care of themselves especially when they are starting out. It doesn't surprise me that we tend to lose many of the good ones early.

The hits just keep coming, man. He literally tweeted this morning (like, 2am morning) about how much fun he was having being on the road doing stand up again.

Bob Saget, Sidney Poitier, Betty White.

That's 3, hopefully it stops there.
John Madden, Dwayne Hickman ie Dobie of Dobie Gillis--telling my age a bit but I only saw it in reruns. All these in I guess the last 2 weeks. Not that odd, really. People tend to wait til after Christmas. I don't know how they manage it but the statistics bear me out for January.

I can't find confimation for this theory but my guess is the next trigger point is around their birthday--either rounding out their total years by dying a day before, or actually on the date, or within a week or two. I was at a funeral for one of my classmates back in high school and passed by a headstone with the date of birth listed as exactly 100 years before mine. S/he died on their birthday. I did not register the death year, probably to keep some things secret. But I'm always a little leery when my birthday rolls around. In January, gulp.

It's interesting what people can force themselves to do. My mother in law when she was battling cancer wanted to make it to December 1st because if she did she would be eligible for her Social Security check and her sister could keep it and use it. They lived together and were on a tight budget and she knew every little penny could help her out. She passed on the 1st exactly at like 2am.

That's amazing!

My grandma often told me the day I was born was her favorite day in the world. Knowing that made it easier to accept that my birthday was her death day. 31 years later I still miss her terribly but that has always been a comfort to me.

The local weather radar right now shows the enigma that is TN winter weather. Not sure I’ve seen anything like it and don’t envy the weather forecasters out there.

I was already bothered enough that Alden Ehrenreich at 5'9 was chosen to portray a 6'1 Han Solo... now you're telling me that 5'5 Daniel Radcliff is going to be playing 6'0 Weird Al?

It’s all about perspective. Lord of the rings ‘hobbits’ come to mind for instance. And then there’s always the Tom Cruise element.

Woke up this morning to a gut punch. Paper has the obituary of a friend I grew up and graduated with. 58 years old. Good dude. Funny as hell. This sucks.

So sad to lose dear friends. Hugs! We've lost between 35 and 40% of our class and we miss them.

Reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.

I live out here in the desert now, in case anyone missed it. I also work for the local school district which requires me to be up & awake at 5 AM local - which has put a serious dent in my free time for recreational purposes.

I can go into more when I’m not as tired, but save for a recent bout of bronchitis, I’m doing all right.
