Anyone open to Iginla for a year? If he can play for cheap, I'd be open to that.

Gabby-Kopi-Iginla
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli
Brown-Stoll-Williams (these 3 have amazing chemistry)

Thoughts?

Wouldn't mind a dman. MN..and send VV on his way...VV has really disappointed me after signing that contract

Adjusting to the NHL is hard for any young player, most forwards don't have their breakout year until the 3 year after they've done 200 games. Defense is a much tougher job to learn and adjust to the NHL game, faster and tougher than what they've played before. Most D take 300 or more games until they begin to feel more comfortable.

He's a very talented young defenseman who has played very well, in a difficult system and divisoin. He's only played 184 games, he's not even gotten his feet wet. and he's put up 79 pts. which is fine.

DL knows this game and knows it well, he's old school. He knows exactly how good Slava will be and was smart to sign him when he did. He's had to adjust to different D partners, which isn't easy. He's only a disappointment if you don't understand just how hard his position is to learn, 184 games isn't even close.

Nice parting shot by Jonas Hiller during his interview on Sportsnet...

Hiller said he's looking forward to the idea of going to a real hockey market in Canada where the fans actually love and know about the game of hockey. He then said the only time people in California get excited about hockey is when the Ducks play the Kings.

That insult really needs to get retired or taken out back and shot.

Hopefully he can play more than 25 games this season.

You can't argue he has played well for the last two years, apart from his stick in game 5, was consistently out of position ... That said not saying it was he has to be traded, although I did say it about 15 times in the playoffs..would like to see an upgrade if continues like this

**** that moron. I tried to find the creep's twitter account to troll, but of course he doesn't have one.

It would have been ugly, believe me.

Looking at capgeek, we're going to have 6 RFAs and 5 UFAs at the end of the next season. Two of the ufas are RR and Cracknell, so no worries there. But with 3 ufas and 6 rfas who should all be signed, I'm thinking Lombardi HAS to make some tough decisions PRIOR to the end of next season. And that's only at the nhl level. We also have some kids who will be looking for raises as well.

Should be interesting...

Time to bring in some more kids, hope the cap goes up a bit, and give out some bridge contracts. It's gonna be difficult, but I trust Dean. Another reason we need to go all in next year again - our team is in great shape.

The cap crunch is definitely coming next year. My guesses:

I believe one of Richards or Stoll won't be back after next year (if Richards has a bounce back season Stoll isn't re-signed, if he doesn't, they move Richards).

Williams gets a long term contract that keeps his cap hit reasonable

Regehr gets the Mitchell treatment, probably offered one year at low money, so he walks

I think Martinez is gone. Look at the ridiculous money defensemen got today, Martinez can probably get 3.5 AAV on a 3-4 year deal on the open market
