Players have a say and way too many on here forget that. Its kind of amazing its been forgotten since we are only one day removed from a player not waiving to come here.

We all know this, but KA (past GMs) could do the organization a lot of good by coming out publicly when they do their best but it doesn't work out. There is no downside to telling the fans when you did everything possible. Short of that, it's safer to say that your GM wasn't aggressive enough.

also, let’s not pretend that if buffalo made that deal that the same five of you wouldn’t be saying this for the next year:

“KA traded away a good draft pick for someone he could have signed 5 days later”

“The draft pick traded was too high to just get someone’s signing rights”

“They contract is embarrassing, it’s sad Buffalo has to overpay to get a mediocre goalie”

“Husso is a bad target. He was average during one stretch and then bad”


It’s comical at this point…pissed we didn’t get husso and would have clowned on the move if we did get him

I just don't think Adams feels any urgency to push for the playoffs this year. He probably sees this as another building year. I understand the frustration and the argument that .900-level goaltending may affect the plan, but I just don't think Adams and ownership see it that way. *shrug*

My issue with Husso is that, given the lack of goalies on the market, he's likely going to get a 3-4 year deal at a low end starter salary. And he simply doesn't have the volume of starts needed to justify it. He's been up and down in the AHL and was below average in the NHL last year. I'd be very concerned having him and UPL split time next year, because I think you are looking at a bit of a gamble. I'd almost rather gamble or Mrazek bouncing back next year and having the easy buyout if he fails than give Husso a 4 year deal.

Serious question for you - is what the Red Wings just did wrong? Are they that far off in their development than we are? If their young guys step up they could push for the playoffs. Why shouldn’t that be our goal? Wouldn’t winning be the best development?

He's supposed to come out publicly and say it a few minutes after the news leaked? Some people here immediately go into KA is a terrible GM because he didn't get that player seconds after the news drops about a trade. I swear some people think there aren't 31 other GM's in the league all making calls and working to improve their teams. He could very well say they were in on several deals but they fell through the next time we hear from him through the media, that won't do anything to change the minds of the people who continually bash him.

Serious question for you - is what the Red Wings just did wrong? Are they that far off in their development than we are? If their young guys step up they could push for the playoffs. Why shouldn’t that be our goal? Wouldn’t winning be the best development?

I don't think Adams and ownership are considering what the Wings and Sens of the league are doing, or where those teams are in their rebuilds. I think they believe they have a plan and they're sticking to it. Again, don't shoot the messenger. I am passing on what I believe this organization's plan is, even if it is frustrating to some.

And that "blocking your youth" is bullshit for this position, especially with the dearth of goalies available.

I'm not talking about the whiner line types. I'm talking about what a front office should do if they really want to show their greater fan base that they are doing everything they can. Considering KAs prior comments about this particular roster issue, I'm predisposed to believe that they didn't make that effort anyway. Moot point probably.

I don't disagree that he hasn't addressed the position to provide the team with solid goaltending. I disagree with the premise that he hasn't TRIED to do so which is what several posters here continue to imply as fact when it's not a fact it's simply their opinion because we flat out do not know what calls he's made or deals he's tried to work out other than the small number that get leaked.

Jesus, no I don't expect a public comment this hour. KA has already made public comments that show he wasn't going to be after a top option like Husso though.

I’d have been fine with Murray. Of course I wanted Mrazek or Bernier or Raanta last off-season and clearly 2/3 of those would have been terrible options

I agree. I criticize and praise various moves as they come. I happen to be very much against this one particular outlook on this roster issue, but calling it out makes me some total team hater. Shrug.
