Doesn't matter. Adams has had 2 full offseasons before this to resolve the goaltending issue...he's done exactly jack squat. Yzerman has been proactive and smart resolving his goaltending issues, even before this deal. I wish we had a good GM.

I'm not ready to say Adams isn't a good GM. He's made some good moves. I just hope goaltending doesn't become his Achilles heel.

Who did we have splitting the season with Ullmark? Yeah, look at those magical numbers of the guys he split with.

I truly don't see it that way. Yeah there would be some posters here or callers on WGR that always hate everything. Explaining to your fanbase that you are in fact doing what you can, rather than letting them wonder, should only be good for your organization.

Before the husso trade, you literally posted husso is not the answer and a 3 year deal would be bad:

My issue with Husso is that, given the lack of goalies on the market, he's likely going to get a 3-4 year deal at a low end starter salary. And he simply doesn't have the volume of starts needed to justify it. He's been up and down in the AHL and was below average in the NHL last year. I'd be very concerned having him and UPL split time next year, because I think you are looking at a bit of a gamble. I'd almost rather gamble or Mrazek bouncing back next year and having the easy buyout if he fails than give Husso a 4 year deal.

After the trade: Detroit has a good gm for doing the thing you said was bad. And buffalo has a bad gm for not doing the thing you said was bad:

That’s fair-ish. I don’t think having a good goalie with poor depth was the worst thing for the state of our team, but depth could have been better. Ullmark getting injured derailed that.

But I disagree that the position was ignored that year, that talent was about right for us

Jake Allen would certainly be an upgrade over what we have, but I fear pairing him with Anderson. Would much rather have him paired with a goalie who can play 40 games and not run out of steam. He also had a lingering groin injury last year, correct?

It's just hard for me to count on decent level of goaltending between Allen and Anderson. I'm not all the confident in UPL, either.

Regardless, he would be a welcome addition. I just really wish we didn't re-sign Anderson and just revamped the our 1A/1B options.

You can take it a step further:

After the trade: Detroit has a good GM for doing the thing you said was bad, and trading an early-3rd for the privilege of doing the thing you said was bad. And Buffalo has a bad GM for not doing the thing you said was bad, and not trading an early-3rd to do the thing you said was bad.

I think we all have to get comfy with the 1B being Anderson/6K. Basically 6K was going to get a shot at this role this year. I’m not saying I agree with it, but that was definitely the plan!
