Off-Season Roster Thread #2 -- Nothing to do but wait

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Because as bad as he is he is better than every goalie we‘ve had since Ullmark.

and if you think Adams is going to run out and get someone better when this was his plan A you are kidding yourself.

See my previous comments - there is no reason to not try to improve the team in some aspect with the draft picks they have. There is something to be said for making sure the players aren't dillholes in the room or asshats off it, which Murray did not do. But in the meantime, "waiting" is what Botterill did without finding a way to make internal, incremental improvement and it was a factor in how it wore out the patience of all of the core players on the team. Using A pick to improve the roster is very much something they should be trying to do and just was something they were trying to do with the Murray deal. It didn't work out. But lets not pretend waiting wasn't part of the fatal flaws Botterill baked into his team from the get-go.

No But if you cant compete the draft is the key . Fun with 3 players They can draft a whole forward line if They want take this to guys like quinn peterka cozens the impact can be a stanley cup if lucky thats a hell of a Lineup . You guys dont understand hockey then . Doing shortcuts havent got sabres a stanley cup and They been in the leauge since 1970 ?

The other gm did it wrong . Adams need to be patient . Coming away Gauthier kasper WHO May go 15 sabres maybe trade up if he for something small 1 spot and mesar that would be epic .

So the talk it Will take 6 years yeah if you trade quinn and 9 th thats a lateral move That sets you back .

Be happy and think if we do it correct tonight with some luck it Will be 1 more year only

Acquiring Murray for a haul wasn’t the bad idea. Bringing back Anderson was.

As said previously - I'd look at it as likely wanting to secure the guy they hope for at 16, at 9. While taking the guy they hope for at 9, at 7.

Their board won't be a carbon copy of the concensus. Rosen last year is an example. Boston in 2015 was an even better example.

I'd personally want to come out with a haul like Nemec/Jiricek & Gauthier to call that a good trade. And even then it wouldn't be proven to be good for a number of years. While at the same time we'd surely endure another disappointing season with Murray being our big time goalie acquisition.
 
Anyone want to guess who the agent was KA was off to meet with (from the Marty & Duffer chat today), he said "neither" when Marty asked him if it was for Oloffson or Bryson.

He is useless when injured and has a long injury history.

Fully agreed. But at least Anderson is being paid backup money.

The real short sighted move was of course... Bishop.

Yeah, seems like that could have waited.

But I don't think Murray's contract really matters. Next year's ceiling shouldn't really be a threat, so if overpaying a backup is the difference between 16 and 7, I'd still be thrilled

Internally, Johnson, R2 or Murray's reps.

Externally, I was wondering if it was someone from Octagon (Walsh's agency) because they rep Matt Murray. Could be someone smoothing that situation out.

I just would rather draft and forward and see how things work out down the road than trade for Dach and try and fit him on a roster that is pretty full at forward today.

If they are going to trade 16OV, I want a multi-year fix at 1G or 1/2RHD.
