Groshans at the plate. not that you'd know because we need to hear about Aaron Boone talking about all their pitching (including Domingo German, which is likely gonna get him some flak)

So the substitutions I can see so far:

Semien -> Lopez
Bichette -> Groshans
Gurriel -> Wall
Rowdy -> Valera

All the starters are out except for Jansen.

C Jansen
1B White
2B Lopez
SS Groshans
3B Smith
RF Warmoth
CF Young
LF Wall
DH Valera

Feels a little odd you'd put Groshans at SS and Smith at 3rd instead of the other way around, but I guess that's why I'm not Charlie Montoyo.

interesting, he played the outfield in the AZFL too back in 2019.

Maybe they're still holding out some hope, not the worst idea to transition him to the OF where our pipeline is much thinner.

Maybe they're trying to go the super-utility route with him as well? Just keep cramming positions into his portfolio until people can look past that he hit .200 with a sub-600 OPS in AA in 2019?

I'm out of the loop are they still trying to develop Groshans at SS? If not then yes that is quite dumb.

I think he did play short last year, but it seems given the high likelihood that his future with the Jays won't be at short and that his skillset probably doesn't lend to playing big-league SS that getting him started at 3rd now so he's ready to man the position full time when he comes up would be a smart, forward-thinking move.
