Do we think Jake Odorizzi is going to pull a Dallas Keuchel? We are right on March's doorstep and despite being only 13 bad innings removed from a really good season, he's still out there.

I'd be really curious to see if he's turning down 2/20ish type offers in hopes of 3 years or maybe he's looking for something closer to 2/35.

It possible. In his most recent article, Rosenthal said Odorizzi waited this long, he isn’t afraid to wait longer. Article also said the market cratered for the mid tier guys like him and Bradley.

Said Odorizzi likely is going to wait for an injury or cuts.

It’s not the greatest strategy because if he is waiting for an injury, I don’t see him getting more than a 1 year deal a la Ervin Santana in 2014 or more recently Keuchel as you brought up.

At this point you have to think he best bet is to take the biggest 1 year deal possible. Preferably with a team his is familiar with like Minnesota, KC or Tampa so he doesn’t have to build new relationships and get accustomed to a new surrounding. Try to rebuild value and find a long term deal next offseason.

Spring Training is bittersweet for me. You see some of these pitchers who have no shot at making the team but here they are getting crushed. You can unfortunately see the look on their faces showing their disappointment. Possibly their last shot at living out their dream.

In some cases you can almost pinpoint the moment their dream of making the majors dies for all the world to see.

There is a Ralph Wiggins gif for this to which I won’t post.

Nice hit by the cavan guy. Not sure he's worth giving a roster spot to, but maybe a guy to keep an eye on in AA.

Edit: wonder if he's related to craig

Jonathan Davis is jacked. Looked like he hit the weight room.

Also am I the only one shocked to see that Davis is 5’9”? I thought this guy was at least 6’2”.

Lol, sheesh....that’s harsh.

But good call....it’s a true fact that there’s a lot of attrition and most won’t even get a cup of coffee.

Still. I wanna see Nick Allgeyer....he’ll turn some heads.

It is, it’s unlike any other sport re: exhibition games. most sports want their players to get reps. In baseball you don’t want to overwork your pitchers so you have guys who shouldn’t be there and they get lit up.

These pitchers are literally and figuratively alone on a hill where the spotlight is on them and them alone. It’s tough to watch sometimes.

But for others, it’s a great experience. They may never make the majors but they will always have a story that they got to put on the jersey and play in spring training.
