Exactly. Announcing for radio and TV are completely different. This will absolutely take away from the experience of listening to the Jays on the radio.
Not to mention I can’t stand buck a pat. I preferred listening on the radio

An ESPN writer Bradford Doolittle. Whoever he is has the Jays with around 84 wins. His big concern is “The other weakness is what to me shapes up as perhaps baseball's worst defense. The good news is that defense is hard to project and my forecast of Toronto's plight in that area is not consensus”

that's a weird take.

Springer is a good CF. Gurriel is a good LF. Hernandez is a passable RF who has made strides and he can be spelled by Grichuk, who is a solid defensive OF at any position.

Ok sure, the Rowdy/Vlad combo isn't going to be stellar at 1st, but it's still just 1st. Semien should be elite at 2nd, Bichette good to very good at short, Biggio one would hope is at least average at 3rd given time to adjust. Jansen has morphed from a bat-first catcher to a solid defensive catcher still looking to find his bat at the major league level. Kirk is supposed to be passable behind the plate, or at least better than you'd expect. and McGuire is a glove-first catcher.

I would say at worst the defence shoule be average. At it's best it should be pretty good given the guys playing the key positions. There's no way I can figure this to be "the worst defence in baseball"

The issue isn't necessarily the people, watching Buck ramble on TV is one thing because you can see the game, but on radio you won't know whats happening.

I'm not too concerned. It isn't rocket science, Buck and Dan are long time professionals, they will make the adjustment.

Dan is fantastic whether he's on TV or the radio. My concern is how it will sound trying to do both at once.

As for having confidence in Buck making adjustments... I think you may be alone in that one.

With Wilner gone who's going to host Jay's talk? Is he still writing for them?

I'm going to be the pedantic "that guy" but it's Jays talk. No apostrophe. Not unless it becomes the directionless ramblings of a guy named Jay.

Sorry. I just see so many people abuse apostrophes. I think I need to buy some TV ad time and set it to some sad Sarah McLachlan music to raise awareness like those SPCA ads.

Meanwhile:

I mean, he's not wrong. But at the same time this has some fun freshly-broken-up schadenfreude where you social-media-stalk your ex and like tweets where they complain about day-to-day problems. You just want to say "move on, dude. This isn't healthy."

To me there is virtually no difference listening to Buck babble on in between plays when listening on the radio and listening on tv. In both instances it's a dead play and he is babbling and we are listening one way or another.

I'm willing to hear how it works over the first few months before making a judgement.

every team needs radio broadcasts

this is bs

this is an insult to Tom Creek

He did radio there for years before passing the torch to Jerry Howarth and then him passed to the new guy who was pretty good

Are they at least doing it online

wtf

It's not that there will be no broadcast on the radio. It's that instead of producing a separate radio broadcast, the radio feed of the game will be covered by the audio from the TV broadcast with Dan/Buck/Pat.

lol this the biggest Jays news of the day and Wilner writes about the Jays. Its not like he's searching his own name on twitter.

But at least when he's rambling on TV there's more going on. You can tune him out and just watch.

Of course I'm willing to give it a chance, but I've always enjoyed both radio and TV broadcasts for the Jays for different reasons, and I'm concerned that combining them both into one will ultimately make them both worse.

It could be called Jay's talk because it's a show that belongs to the Jays and an apostrophe shows possession. Regardless who is going to host the post game show or is it going to be cancelled?

I spend over $200/month on Bell with all these cuts I better see cuts to my bill.
You need to call and negotiate with them. That’s bloody way too much. Just tell them you’re going to look at new options if they can’t help you. Also wrong ownership group.
