Lost in all this is that Happ is a decent starter. We have a legitmate #4 starter in the pen at the first injury/Romero.
Great depth, just what we need. I was dumbfounded as to why people were suggesting to Wilner on twitter that we should move him for a bat. Have people already forgotten about last years debacle with our starters.....

I think it's 10 for 2 years, as in 5 per

You're right, my bad.

storey makes this team ?

My guess is that they'll try and sneak Storey through waivers later on. I said yesterday that we had 10 ready bullpen arms. I didn't take into account however the fact that Dickey moves Happ out of the rotation. This all but seals Oliver's future here unfortunately.

Current Pen Arms:
Jannsen
Santos
Oliver(?)
Delabar
Lincoln
Loup
Jeffress
Rogers
Storey
Cecil
Happ

Storey, Jeffress and Loup will all end up getting sent down, I expect, and while Loup has options, either of the others could well be claimed, but that's fine.

we dont need cecil

We do and we don't. With a healthy rotation he's expendable, with a banged up body or two, he becomes relevant again. I think we'll be keeping him as a lefty specialist and starter depth for now, then deal him during the year at some point once guys like Drabek start getting healthy.

I hope Loup can repeat what he did last year. He walked only 2 batters in 30 innings of work last year. Love his delivery. Hopefully he can become our long-term lefty specialist.

he hardly proved himself as a reliever
hopefully he will accept buffalo

Cecil will be on a major league roster to start the season. If we try to send him to AAA he'll get scooped up on waivers 100%.

Honestly, every relief pitcher is a converted starter. Cecil's got a good mix of stuff, was good out of the bp last year, where he struggles is 2nd and 3rd time through the order, his stuff isn't good enough to fool guys more than once.

If he pitches well in spring we should be giving him a chance to stick in the bp as a lefty. We're going to need at least 2 lefty's in the pen, and Happ is the only one right now. Cecil's got a shot at being #2.

I don't know why everyone is crapping on Cecil, his velocity is decent as a reliever and he has a better repitoire then your average reliever not to mention he historically is a lefty killer. With Gibbons pen management I would not be surprised to see him as the LOOGY with a sub 3.00 ERA this season.

loup was great

if we go with 2 lefties and not oliver i still dont want cecil

he suspiciously lost a lot of weight and velocity

Suspiciously? He lost weight to get into better shape.

You can't really say you want xx and not xx.

There are going to be battles during ST, this will be one of them. Whoever gets that 2nd lefty spot. Cecil and Loup will be head to head. If they're even, cecil gets the not because I believe Loup has an option left. If Loup is better Cecil will go by the wayside.

He never averaged 93 though, that was just his max.

And I'm pretty sure he touched 93 a few times when we saw him come out of the pen.

Not crapping on him at all. Simply realizing his place on the depth chart. I think he can be a useful piece.

Loop is a far more effective lefty specialist. Cecil would have potentially been a long relief man but that will be happ now

Loup was awesome last season.
Will be interesting to see if he can sustain that kind of performance.

Just going off of what I've seen on the boards. Ticket sales must be crazy high already.

For sure I talked to my ticket rep and he said its nuts (actually kicked me off the phone lol to take more ticket calls)

Hell I'm probably going to road it to Detroit in April
