Source: #Angels have traded Kendrys Morales to the #Mariners for SP Jason Vargas.

I like that deal for the Mariners. Morales is a good bat and Vargas is just meh that benefits from pitching in that ballpark. Angels are going to have a great offense but their starting pitching is weak.

I'm really scratching my head at what the Angels are doing. Great move for Seattle. Sure LA signed Pujols last year and Hamilton but their pitching is suspect at best. Although I did like their trade for Tommy Hanson, and only having to give up Walden.

What they did was fail to properly plan for the loss of Grienke. If he wouldn't resign before free agency you have to assume he is gone. They really should of been in on Sanchez.

Vargas is pretty good but a quote i remeber from other mlb sources said vargas fastball couldnt break a pain of glass lol

I think he pitched well last year?

Hanson is probably the biggest risk in their rotation, while all the other guys have the ability to go 200 innings. Their pitching is still suspect, but really they only need an average rotation if their hitting is as good as it looks on paper.

And yes, I know pitching wins games, but they also have the ability to outhit any problems that come their way.

Depends where he was pitching.

Home: 2.74era
Away: 4.78era

It's a good move for Anaheim, but they could have done alot better this offseason.

Yeah the angles line up is filthy but we saw how far it got them last year. I could see them signing Marcum. But that only replaces ervin Santana.

He is such a likeable guy when he talks. Not the typical cliché spouting athlete.

I think a better comparison would be Johnson, buerhle, dickey solidifies are rotation so it's like going from Gustafson to a top 5 goalie like miller. Reyes would be like getting patty Kane and melky Cabrera would be like adding pomminville... But we already have a no1 c in Bautista ( number 3 hitter = top line centre)

Well, the point was to take most of the guys we got from bottom 4 teams the year before. Buffalo only barely missed the playoffs last year, so they don't really apply to the attempted parallel. :)

I'd consider Kessel to be the parallel of Bautista, Kulemin the parallel of Lawrie and Grabovsky to be the parallel of Rasmus, though the former is better now (further down the development line?). I'd probably get some argument for these, but Arencibia would be McClement and Lind could be Lupul from last year (here's hoping, anyway).

After that, I don't know who I'd compare, especially since we're comparing a 25-man roster with generally a regular lineup of 10 and about 3 players who sub in now and then with a 23 man roster that has 19 regular players and one sub (the backup goalie) who doesn't play much at all.

The point was, regardless of where the players come from, if they're regarded as solid players like the guys we got from the Mets and Marlins, then we're right to expect a good result.

Dickey is one of the most passionate people I've seen. Dude talks as if he emulates his own personality with his pitches.

I believe he even said (in a previous interview) the knuckle-ball pitch is a metaphor for his life with all the unpredictability and changes in direction. Good head on his shoulders.

I can see that, he stops and thinks about every question asked before he gives an answer and is quite articulate.

Wow RA sounds quite intelligent/articulate. More than i can say for alot of players. Quite impressed. :handclap:

He majored in Literary history at University and wanted to become a professor in that subject before his baseball career took of. :yo:

The best part is, just how humble he is. He knew he could get a big contract had he not signed in Toronto.. But instead of taking the money like people in baseball do.. (I'm looking at you Albert). And again like everyone says, just carries himself so well. Don't forget about Buehrle who is quite similar in terms of being a team guy.

I liked that he mentioned that he will visit Toronto before spring training to the city with his family. Seems to genuinely want to be here rather then just dealing with it.

"It's a good rotation, not a great rotation"- Bob Ryan (Boston Globe)

hahaha

It surprise's me that he said that because usually he's not a Boston homer, and he went on to bash the Red Sox pretty bad after he said that.

Kinda laughed at the sellout thing, Boston hasn't sold out every game for a couple years now but they still annouce it as a sellout.

Boston has some of the most bitter, resentful, passive-aggressive sports media anywhere. It's hilarious listening to them, especially since they're just as likely to turn their venom on their own teams as they are outsiders. Except the Patriots. Saint Brady is forever clean of sin.

We need more fried chicken.

I think guys like Buehrle and Dickey will be great mentors for Morrow and Romero. These guys are quite level headed as it is, but having quality veterans like these guys should really help them grow as a pitcher. Dickey especially, since he's dealt with the most adversity among the bunch of them.
