i look at getting swisher/laroche over lind for the same reason AA got cabrera

after the marlins trade we saw bonifacio hitting 2nd playing LF
then a few days later he gets a more proven in cabrera

woah...

we're going for it
take no chances
is 2b solidified ?
maybe something there too

Last year's stats say Lind and Rasmus switch which mean's you need to improve the #5 hitter still, which is why you need to get Ike Davis in the Dickey deal. If Davis can pull to the corner he can score 40HRs. Then trade Lind for Bullpen help.
Lind stats say that after he was recalled he got on base over 1/3 of the time (.345 OBP%) and then it becomes the job of the guys behind him to drive him home which we've got a very good hitter (Lawrie) and a couple guys with some power (JP, Rasmus).

Lind was great before Murphy and he'll be great after Murphy.

I don't have the numbers in front of me but he kicked ass against the A.L East last season. Destroyed TB and Baltimore I believe. I think he threw a one hitter against one of them.

Edit: he threw a one hitter against TB.

Ya i think it was like a 1.70 era against AL east. Add to that his stats in a domed stadium were also ridiculous, and the transfer from the NL shouldn't be that big a concern.

Found this on ESPN

In three seasons with the Mets, Dickey made six starts against the Blue Jays AL East rivals. He was 4-0 with a 1.71 ERA in those six games, which included consecutive one-hitters against the Tampa Bay Rays and Baltimore Orioles.

So basically.. Yeah

We're going to give our division fits. You go from trying to hit a 80 mph knuckleball that Dickey can control extremely well to trying to catch up to a Johnson and Morrow fastball and trying to hit their off speed stuff. Then Buerhle can finish things off with his quick "give me the ball and go" finesse type of style. Crazy variety.

What time is the presser and will it be on sportsnet, tsn or tsn2. Thanks.

Nobody knows. As of right now the Bluejays won't even confirm that there's a deal in place for Dickey.

The people who complain about Wilner are just as obnoxious at times. If you don't like him, switch the channel. Is he a jerk sometimes, yes. Is he a smart baseball person, yes.

Flores would be a nice get for the Jays and would ease the pain a bit of losing Syndergaard/D'Arnaud. Plus it makes perfect sense, we need a young prospect who can play SS/2B. Our depth at that position in the minors is pretty weak.

He batted .311 with an OBP of .361 and an OPS of .855. last season in AA. Solid numbers.

Him and/or Fulmer are the two 'non-elite' prospects I'd be ok in getting. With what we're giving up, I hope it's one of those guys we get back.

Adding one or both of those guys would make the sting of losing TDA and Syndergaard much more bearable.

3 year stats:

BAL: 0.56 ERA, 2-0, 16 IP
NYY: 3.71 ERA, 1-0, 17 IP
TB: 0.00 ERA, 1-0, 9 IP

So 6 starts, 4-0, 42 IP pitched. SUb 4 ERA/

2 years, 25 million? That's a damn fine extension. Probably could have gotten more on the open market.

And considering the deals that pitchers like Greinke got, you could make the argument that R.A's underpaid.

Let's put this up on the table: How do you set up the Jays rotation for next season? If I was in Gibbons' position, here's how I'd do it:

1. Josh Johnson: Until someone comes along to take the title, consider him the Jays' ace.

2. Mark Buehrle: He'll likely be the team's designated inning-eater.

3. R.A. Dickey: He could challenge Johnson for the team's ace, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him here, either.

4. Ricky Romero: This would be considered a step down for someone who was considered to be the team's ace, but Romero might see it as a way to prove that he can still get the job done.

5. Brandon Morrow: He's definitely shown flashes of brilliance, but this might be where he lands up.

So he dominated 2 of the teams and had a rough outing against the Yanks. I'll take it

He gave up 5 earned last year against the Yankees, but he threw 11 innings in two games in 2011 against the Yanks surrendering only two runs.

1 run allowed over 2 games (16 innings) against Baltimore in his last three years. 3:21 BB:SO ratio.

1 hitter against TB last year, so he has a fairly small sample size but he's been pretty much dominant in 6 games against the AL East with a sub 2 era over his last three years in interleague games.

Basically, it doesn't really matter.

I'd be confident with any one of Dickey, Johnson or Morrow in a 1 game head to head vs. any other #1 pitcher in the league, with Buehrle and Romero matching up closely with any other pitcher.

For the prospect, I'd take Flores if they'd add him and he can stick at 2B. He had a good season in AA and is only 21. He's a risk, but if he can continue to develop, he'd be a hell of an addition.

He's too slow with limited range for SS/2B. If he can't stick it in LF he'll probably be a 1B/DH.

cant trust what AA tells us
he said in the winter meetings nothing was going on and was looking for depth players mostly

come on LOL
sneak..

i dont think he's done yet do you?

Jays go from having Romero as their #1, to getting two teams #1s and a teams #2. The depth on the mound is absolutely astonishing and must be terrifying for the rest of the league.
