Gabriel Morency. There's a loudmouth idiot whose name I haven't heard in a long time. I still remember him having a show on The Score years and years ago that was like a poor man's attempt to be Stephen A Smith or Jim Rome or whatever where it was just him screaming barstool takes at the screen for half an hour.

And what's lost in his "sniff *pushes glasses up* umm, actually the Jays are the richest team in MLB" common line used to try and badger them into spending more is that they are the richest team in the league, but are owned by a publicly traded company which would severely limit their ability to spend that money with reckless abandon. They are not Ted Rogers writing blank cheques to win a world series. They are a company for whom significant spending could theoretically have an impact on the bottom line, and thus shareholder equity.

I'm not defending them cheaping out to the extreme. Just saying that people need to temper their expectations of how readily and extravagantly the team can/will spend and not buy into screaming-at-the-moon scorching hot takes that rely on the rather reductive statement of "the Jays have the richest ownership in baseball" because the key word is ownership, not owner. It's not a person with a hobby, it's a company with an asset in their portfolio. And that makes all the difference.

Liked Romero but AA gave you a good contract that you didn’t live up to and gave you shot after shot to prove yourself. Weird tweet

Always wondered what happened to Romero, really thought he was gonna be a gooder after the first few season

Romero is one of the most stark declines I can remember

Continually improved in his first three seasons to the point it looked they had a guy to carry the pitching staff post Halladay in 2011. And then he just straight up forgot how to pitch. Once he was rattled there was no coming back.

Most people were baffled by it and the most of can recall is there was claims he did permanent damage to his left leg after pitching through some vague knee issue in 2012.

Freeman and Schwarber announced today, book it.

If there is a team in the AL East that Freeman goes to its the Jays. Why go to the Rays? To be traded a year or two later? Why go to the Sox? Their rotation stinks and it will be a waste of his offensive talent. He goes to either the Dodgers or Jays.

As for Schwarber this would be a sly move. We dont need another OF\DH type (have Gurriel, Hernandez, Grichuk and Springer), but it does open avenues to make a deal for another need (2B or 3B).

How about we sign Freeman and Schwarber. Then turn around and trade Gurriel, Kirk, Pearson and Groshans to Guardians for Ramirez?

Springer - CF
Bichette - SS
Freeman - 1B
Vladdy - DH
Ramirez - 3B
Hernandez - RF
Schwarber - LF
Biggio - 2B
Jansen - C

Bench: Espinal, Grichuk, McGuire, Byrd

Not to bad!!!!

Presumably some players view this as the last day to sign and have your physical before spring training games start on Friday.

I would say Mets are. Way they been throwing money around
Cohen definitely spends a lot more then Rogers is willing to. The joy of being owned by a single owner, who’s a fan, compared to a corporation with a board.

Rogers actually spends more money then I anticipated they would. I feel they do want to win and seem to be willing to spend what they can to do so. Cohen spending more then everyone else to continuously lose is something special.

From looking at TV listings on the Sportsnet site, here is the first batch of spring training games (6 of the first 10) that will be available to watch:

Saturday March 19 – 1:00 PM: Toronto at Philadelphia (SNE, SNO, SNP)
Monday March 21 – 1:00 PM: Toronto at Detroit (SN1)
Wednesday March 23 – 1:00 PM: Toronto at Philadelphia (SN)
Friday March 25 – 1:00 PM: Toronto at Detroit (SN)
Saturday March 26 – 1:00 PM: Toronto at NY Yankees (SN)
Sunday March 27 – 1:00 PM: Philadelphia at Toronto (SN)

No listings were available beyond March 27.

I suspect that most, if not all, of these will be broadcasts by the opposing team.
