No it doesn't.

If we move Randal, we either need to shed significant money or get someone who is a clear upgrade.

Didi costs more this year (0 vs 10.4 next) but is worse than Biggio and Espinal.

I still think we can do a lot better. For example, if Cincy is truly looking to shed payroll, I would buy Votto off them (with Grichuk being required to be in the deal)

I view Grichuk as a negative asset so I would think you have to take a negative asset back too unless you are retaining.

But if there are teams out there that don’t view Grichuk that way and are willing to trade low level prospects for him or say Votto is on the table as you suggest, then I agree with you.

But I don’t think many teams are lining up to help the Jays get rid of $10M for a 4th OF hence why I think you have to take on some salary like Didi who I think would be a great bounce back candidate for the Jays. Plays 3 positions of need 3B, 2B, and SS, lefty bat and success in the AL East.

That’s a trade I make in good conscious as I suspect 2021 was a down year for Didi and not his new norm.

With my focus being on trades, FA, etc, I kind of forgot about Montoyo as soon as I saw that tweet I just let out a big sigh. Hopefully, he's good this year. He just does some really dumb things occasionally.

Royals have Ned Yost and they won the world series. It's possible to win in spite of your crappy manager.

Charlie is not getting off to a good start if he can't count to 5

They were talking yesterday on the MLB Network about how few pitchers are pitching on four day rest these days. The Jays may be looking at going with six starters but skipping number six when there are off-days.

Lmao aggressively shop all you want, no one wants highly paid garbage in Hosmer.

Myers isnt exactly a good buy either. Was only worth 1.4 WAR last year but his hitting numbers were slightly above average (.334 OBP and an OPS of .768) and has to deal with the Petco factor. Though would most likely have to be a DH since his defense is ass.

...probably not getting any takers at 20 million though. Unless the Padres are willing to throw in a sweetener like Abrams.Though the universal DH does probably open a couple options that might not have been there prior.

Edit: wrong stats, Fangraphs says Myers is worth 1.4 while Hosmer is worth literally 0 WAR

I would definitely look into a Wil Myers-Randal Grichuk swap, Myers would not only be coming to the AL East but also leaving a top 5 pitcher friendly park in San Diego behind. I imagine you'd have to add on a prospect to Grichuk because Myers has more bounce back upside. Grichuk has 20 million spread out over two year, opposed to the 21 million they'd pay Myers this year and the 1 mil buyout next year. So they're splitting their costs in half this year and getting prospect capital.

I would say it's not horrid in the same way that, say, Moreno, Martinez, Gurriel, and Biggio isn't a horrid opening offer from Cleveland.
That's a 40+ and 3 40 FV by FanGraphs's count.

Moreno alone wouldn't be horrid, but your proposal is a little outlandish.

Cleveland likely counters with Pearson/Hoglund/Tiedemann Martinez, and Gurriel.
