It's a money game. You have to get current with the times and the Jays have the money if they want to do that. They'll waste another window because with the contracts thrown around, good luck retaining Bo and Vladdy.
But nobody wants to keep Bo in this forum. So he will be gone.

Supply vs Demand... More teams need catchers vs the catchers available. As free agency options (top end) dwindle, teams that need quality will have to pony up and meet Jays asking price. If not, no problem keeping our 3 to start the year.
Hopefully. There’s a possibility the teams with outfielders to trade all acquire catchers via another route.

If we keep all 3 to start the year I think that would be a failure to use a surplus to address team needs.

It’s December lol
Most offseasons haven’t moved this quickly. Generally the big names waited until late December or January to sign.

Haven’t really seen much trade movement this month though and that’s usually what comes from the winter meetings.

f*** it! I choose to be positive. We're going to sign Rodon, trade Jansen + for Alek Thomas and sign Gallo, Alex Reyes and Taylor Rogers

Bo may improve at SS this year, he is still figuring out the pro game. As much as it seems he is a finished product folks... Not sold we need to move him to 2nd. They have three 2nd basemen now, hes likely getting at least another year.. Id bet he has a better fielding season. Kepler is a possible trade target... If... We can move salary back to match. Wouldn't be against it, and then you can push for one of the guys in free agency you like.

That's just a lie and you know it.

People aren't wanting him gone, the talk has just been if you get a good deal for him, you consider it. Just like literally every other player in any other sport.

Yeah, I haven't seen folks clamoring to ship him out (outside of a very brief period of frustration when he caused that collision with Springer).

There was a rumour earlier that AA wanted to trade Acuna for him, and lots of folks (myself included) would have been onboard with that, but that doesn't mean anyone wants to ship him out for the sake of it.

Siddal was advocating for Rodon as well and said pitching should be the focus. He said this before Nimmo signed with the Mets.

Manoah, Rodon, Gausman would be a nice big 3. Rodon is going to get a monster contract though. He may get 30 million a year in this market imo.

That's pretty much where I stand. I was heavily on board with that deal. Not because I thought Bo sucks (on the contrary, if he sucked the deal would have never been spoken on) but because Acuna is a stupidly good value proposition and it was pondered on the idea they could just fill the hole created with a free agency signing.

Anyone who said they wouldn't do a Bo for Acuna swap and then go out and sign a Correa if they had the chance is a damn liar.

That being said, with the developments on the market I went from believing there was a road to keep Bo here long term (as in past 2026) to assuming he's probably gone down the road given the stupid contracts shortstops are getting.

There's also the elephant in the room of Nimmo's political beliefs. Super outspoken anti-mask/anti-vaxxer on top of being from Wyoming.

I could definitely see someone like that just scoffing at playing in a Canadian city even with measures/protocol long since gone.
And he stayed in NY?

Is Gallo the guy that played for the Yankees and hits .150? Why him?

Neemo levereged Mets. They couldnt afford to lose him which is why they overpaid.

Jays better off going trade route

One of those other 2b’s is a superior ss though. Meaning we already have a better internal option even inside our org. Some risk with the bat there over a full season but the point stands.

Depends on how the org values Espinal longterm. Could be used as a trade chip to improve another area of the team. Logically with both him and Biggio entering arb years we can consolidate and potentially have Barger replace them in the near future.

What's everyone's thought on trying to acquire Ketel Marte from Arizona for one of our catchers.

He's a switch hitter who has produced in the past and is still young, and can potential be a top to middle of the order bat. Allows us to sacrifice a bit of offense from our OF and go with a defense first approach there by targeting Keiermaier and Conforto and move Springer to RF.
