I'm loving how the Jays are picking up a lot of international free agents. They have an excellent developmental complex and since they are picking these players at a young age, they can develop them better or at least in theory.

Potentially as many as 15 more HR on Varsho's batted ball last year

I'm assuming the higher walls will take away at least a handful of them, but Varsho and Belt were already going from stadiums that significantly suppress HR to a homer-happy environment.

2022 MLB Park Factors - Home Runs - Major League Baseball - ESPN

SF and ARI had two of the three lowest HR park factors in the game last year, while the SkyDome was already 8th highest before making these changes.

I'm trying not to become irrationally optimistic about Merrifield but my lord would Atkins ever look good if he returned to form.

Max Castillo got lit up in KC and is posting bleh numbers in winter ball right now. Samad Taylor still hasn't played an MLB game and he turns 25 in July. I imagine he's got a shot at the Royals out of camp but they have a glut of middle infielders looking for playing time, so he'd need probably need to provide decent value in LF.

Definitely... it's hard not to get excited considering how well he played down the stretch last year.

The nice thing is they don't need a lot out of him... he's really just being counted on to be a utility guy who can play some solid 2B and OF. They don't need him to be great, but he's also just a year removed from a 5 year stretch as a consistent 3+ WAR player, so it's not unreasonable to think he could be a really valuable piece of the team.

I think he gets a little too DSL/CPX happy in the back end of these lists. Not denying some of these kids can become something, but right now I'm taking Alan Roden, Jimmy Burnette, and Brandon Eisert over some of these lotto kids.

Also hoping Ian Churchill flies through the system after reading this.

Love when a guy takes time to do his research and can appreciate the history of the sport.

The distance to right center BP is such a joke.

We have the shortest distance to right center by a wide margin.

Varsho, Belt, Bo, Kirk and Vladdy should be able to consistently exploit this new field design.

Pretty reasonable back half of the list. I would for sure have TJ Brock on there along with a couple other guys over some of these DSL/GCL guys but it's not awful. I was surprised he dropped Van Eyk like a rock after ranking him 12 knowing he was going to miss the full year with TJ, he's suddenly in the 30's with nothing new except some mysterious setback that isn't even going to cause him to miss extra time as he says he should be good to go for next spring. Was surprised Irv Carter was that low too, and I didn't realize Meza was so low last year and somehow got a big jump after a bad season. He's probably close to where he should be, but the low ranking last year and now moving him up was weird.

I think there were 2 guys there I'd never heard of(I didn't follow the DSL/GCL very close this year) but Carlos Vasquez being a lefty Gabby Moreno has me intrigued after he signed for 10k and is a catcher.
