Springer
Vladdy
Bo
Kirk
Belt
Chapman
Varsho
Merrifield/Biggio
Kiermaier

Kirk and Belt are our slowest baserunners so keep them together, I thought about Bo at 2, Vladdy at 3 to bunch Vladdy with them too but getting Vladdy in a more important slot in 2 was more important. The 3 lefties are seperated at 5/7/9. When Jansen plays instead of Kirk drop Jansen to 6, Belt and Chappy move up 1 slot.

Against Lefties

Springer
Vladdy
Bo
Kirk
Chapman
Jansen
Varsho
Espinal
Merrifield

If an OF who rakes lefties is brought in they replace Merrifield and move up to 7 in the order.

Surprised nobody is putting Bo 3rd. It's the "least important" spot at the top of the lineup and he raked there.
Personally my lineup is
1. Springer
2. Vlad
3. Bo
4. Belt.
5. Kirk.
6. Varsho
7. Chapman
8. Merrifield
9. Kiermaier

Good things is there are lots of ways of configuring the bottom part of the lineup and none of them are inherently bad options.

Remember last year (mostly pre-Schneider, I think) when we got a bunch of games with Tapia or Collins hitting in the middle of the lineup just to break up the string of righties? It's nice to have a couple LH bats who should actually be able to hold their own there.

What do you guys think about putting Springer and Gurrerro in the 3-4 spot this year to increase their RBI opportunities?

If Springer were to bat 4th instead of 1st for example he would be hitting with 25 % more runners on base.

One issue with this chart is that it appears to be based on all teams in 2017. Which means that games in National League parks (50%) did not use a DH and thus had pitchers batt ing a lot of times in the 9 spot. It's also going to vary greatly depending on how good the players in the bottom third of fthe lineup on your team are at getting on base.

Thought it was interesting that while the Jays don't have a lot of top tier prospects, the depth seems to sneak by even at the major league scouting level. Davis Schneider might just be the back up of the back up (Otto Lopez), but he moved up three levels and didn't seem out of place at AAA. He's kinda in the Horwitz/Barger tier of secret depth bats (tbh I'd also put Tanner Morris and maybe even Capra in it) but didn't get added to the 40 man nor did he get picked up in the Rule 5 draft. He's like a right handed Ryan Schimpf. If they don't grab a righty OF and Otto takes that spot on the main roster, Schneider might be next up if things don't work out.

Also the versatility. All these guys have one or multiple IF positions to go along with a corner OF spot. It's like taking a page out of the Rays/Cards book of churning out 24+ y/o 1+ WAR rookies

I know Arraez is a batting champion and Lopez has injury issues with a poor finish to last year, but this is not a good trade for Miami. You are trading 2 years of a middle to top of the rotation type pitcher and 2 prospects with good ceilings for 3 years of a 2B or a 1B with no power. Arraez would be a perfect table setter for a team like the Jays. He is a lefty with great on base that can hit ahead of guys with power. Unless the Marlins add more power guys i dont see this trade ending well.

At least Miami traded the right pitcher, but im not loving the return. I look forward to Miami ruining Arraez somehow and them trading him to us half way through next season.

Twins rotation looks good now if healthy;

Sonny Gray
Tyler Mahle
Pablo Lopez
Joe Ryan
Kenta Maeda
Chris Paddack

All pitchers they have traded for since 2020. They could really benefit from a Bauer signing or at least Wacha. I also wonder what the Twins do at 1B now? Sign Gurriel? Voit? Aguilar? Stick with Kirilloff?

Jays just released the new field dimensions

Right Center Field alley moving in from 375 feet to 357 feet
Left Center Field moving from 375 feet to 366 feet
Center field moving from 400 feet to 397 feet
Lines expected to stay the same at 328 feet

So a good hitters park is getting even better which should line up well with our teams strengths going forward.

Here's the best picture I can find that shows the entire field
