  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.

Stop with the clown comments. It would not have mattered because everything was designed to get the most money out of the Dodgers. He was never coming here no matter how much was offered.

Stick to what you know, when you finally figure that out.
Not sure why you feel have to get personal .. i have no idear whether this player would come to TO with us or not .. no one knows except him .. all i said was ed got outbid .. and he did ,. clearly he wanted to try to get him .. unless da whole thing is just a PR move to interest jays fans

so its an input tax credit for international taxation; meaning whatever tax he pays is deducted from his Japanese tax bill; he would pay whatever is left over to the Japanese tax authorities correct?
I'm not sure what the residency rules are.

In 10 years time, I expect him to become a non-resident, which could theoretically completely shift his tax away from the US.

Fangraphs top 30 Jays prospects

From my understanding, Ohtani would receive the 680 million after 10 years, with no interest. So the money he will be receiving will be worth way less when he receives it.

It seems like the Dodgers win massively with this deal structure. Dream scenario for the Dodgers.

Ohtani will still receive a lot of money so he sort of wins.

If Ohtani can get paid while he's out of the country in 2034, he will avoid major tax penalties. But I imagine the California left wing government would find a way to collect on their share on tax out of this by the time it's all said and done.

The CA tax man won’t go after one of their own.

The disrespect to Roden and Palmegiani

Yeah, a very weird list. TJ Brock is raw and has a lot of potential but to rank a 24 year old with a near 7 ERA in AA 6th is remarkable no matter how great the velo and swing and miss stuff.

Also no Bohrofen is criminal after the start he had last year. I wouldnt be surprised if he is our best hitter in the farm by the end of next season and could go as high as AA. Other guys I value more than players towards the bottom of the list are; Beltre, Fluharty, Aponte, and Edward Duran included in the Bass/Pop trade.

Jim Bowden says the Jays are trying to re-sign Matt Chapman.

The Ohtani hangover continues.

Overdrive was right when they said these high profile pursuits weren’t necessarily a good idea since the letdown does nothing to rehab a team that under delivered so much last year. Also doesn’t do anything for a GM who was mired in controversy to come in second place on a big fish and then go back to unsatisfying status quo stuff.

I am not disappointed about Ohtani because I never truly believed it was going to happen after the flight rumor was debunked.

In the end, we might be better off anyway if we allocate similar financial resources towards acquiring solid depth in a few areas of need.

I think that the entire fanbase is a little nervous about what Toronto will do.

If Bellinger or Chapman and minor tinkering is the offseason, then this would be a horrible failure. That being said, it is still December and the offseason is far from over.

Also, the Jays need a different balance, but that doesn't mean that they necessarily need a Soto/Ohtani level player to make it happen.

I think Chapman would be a mistake. his main attribute before the trade was defense, and that has slipped last year, and as he ages I don't see it getting any better.

The free agent pool is quite weak this year. I think they may have to do some kind of a trade.

Sign Lee for LF, Turner for 3B, and J.D Martinez for DH.

I don’t mind Turner at 3B because we may only need to play him at 3B for half a season if Barger, Martinez or someone else is ready by mid season.

1. Lee
2. Springer
3. Vlad
4. Martinez
5. Bichette
6. Turner
7. Kirk/Jansen
8. Schneider/Biggio
9. Varsho

I dont mind this at all. Gives you flexibility and keep your prospects. If Martinez or Turner dont work out, you still have all you MLB ready prospects to step or perhaps use in a trade to get better players.
