Yeah, it is. The guy is deferring his money which means the team gets to be competitive. I personally have zero issues with what he did.LOL
Riiiiiiight. This is your takeaway?

Not at that price. Yikes.Would have been a great get for us.

Hey, I've been a proponent of his too, but that's a risky contract for such an unproven guy. Hitters from the KBO have been hit or miss in the MLB. I also don't think his bat is geared for that kind of power in the MLB. I see him being more of a Steven Kwan type if his skills transfer. He's going to be a plus defender and a high OBP guy. I also think he has 25 HR potential!
The red flag is he's not any good lol, this is like the David Clarkson FA, one good year going into FA where everyone knew it was an awful contract the day it was signed. Now I'm not somebody who can see the future, but i feel like Bellinger waiting this long to get a deal has to be a bad omen. we've seen tons of free agents that that had red flags get deals quicker in the past too.
It's like everyone knows it's not worth it.
Still had multiple teams trying to out-stupid each other to sign him.The red flag is he's not any good lol, this is like the David Clarkson FA, one good year going into FA where everyone knew it was an awful contract the day it was signed.
I refuse to accept Bellinger as a consolation prize of the Dodgers and Yankees grabbing elite talent while I'm supposed to be happy we overpaid the best bronze medal because we are trying to save face. That's loser mentality, he's not even a fit here.Man, I realize there are red flags, but some of this anti-Bellinger sentiment here is crazy over-the-top.

In Bellinger’s defence he’s been good in 5/7 years of his career. If his commitment could come down to 5-7 years it would look a lot more appealing than the 10 years floated around out there.
Bellinger can be part of a really good offseason that significantly improves the team. I don't think anyone's suggesting you sign him and call it a day.I refuse to accept Bellinger as a consolation prize of the Dodgers and Yankees grabbing elite talent while I'm supposed to be happy we overpaid the best bronze medal because we are trying to save face. Weak contact rates means that his season last year was a fluke and I believe hte 3 previous dogshit years are closer to his talent now, especially after landing a big contract.Bellinger can be part of a really good offseason that significantly improves the team. The Jays need an outfielder and a good bat from the left side. How is a solid defensive CF (who would move to LF) coming off a 134 wRC+ not a good fit?

Tbf 5/119 for a guy who might not even be able to hit a major league level fastball is a ton of money. That's one time I don't mind them scoffing at a price.Get used to this, folks.
The team not stupidly paying big sums on meh to compensate?Get used to this, folks.
My offseaseon.Sign Martinez/Votto/Hoskins + Turner + Brantley + Ryu all to 1 year deals.
Wish there was one more big lefty bat we could add in addition to Brantley. Might have to bite the bullet on Bellinger unless we want to trade for Kepler or Yellich. My offseaseon.
- Ryu 2 years
- Brandon Woodruff on the Chad Green deal.
- one of JD Martinez or Turner.
- Brantley, or similar.
