Confirmed...the Vegas H-BombsMaybe they can get a better deal on the land if they go a little further out like where they did the H-Bomb testing
As insider Casey Pratt pointed out the other day, the A’s have been using land sites as leverage the same way they’ve used the cities. They expected Oakland and the other Vegas sites to come in and try to offer more after their land announcement and both decided to just leave the A’s alone. Now they just look like stupid assholes with no actual deal in sight. All the people who considered The Las Vegas Athletics inevitable based on a land deal need to understand that the Athletics bought land in Fremont (From Cisco, and signed a naming rights deal as part of it) like 20 years ago, and bought the Coliseum site land like two years ago.
I think Fisher is just trying to advance any deal he can far enough to sell. He doesn’t care about Oakland or Vegas, he only cares about getting paid.maybe deep down they really don't want a new stadium or to move, maybe the A's are just like the girl or guy who just enjoys the flirting part and being fawned over and really don't want to commit to a relationship
Bummed in 2 ways:
1) Wanted them to stay. Bay Area should be a 2-team market
2) If/When Vegas did happen, I was hoping for the Tropicana site. MGM Grand, NY/NY, Excalibur, and the ballpark on 1 corner would've been epic.
yeah, the whole sticking point for fisher was the entertainment district surrounding the new ballpark. if that's no longer on the table, then it's pretty obvious this is just another leverage ployJust another erratic move where they’re trying to get something better somewhere else. They don’t want to play at that site for multiple reasons.
This ownership group is clueless and so is the guy working for them.
That and those guys at Tropicana don’t have nearly the political influence as those who run the site they couldn’t grift the public for.yeah, the whole sticking point for fisher was the entertainment district surrounding the new ballpark. if that's no longer on the table, then it's pretty obvious this is just another leverage ploy
Yep. You nailed it. Nothing they say at this point means anything until they sell, then we’ll know where the A’s are actually going.A's need new ownership, Fisher is a clown and he's trying to get the best bid possible then sell.
Screw that.
30,000 seats? What's the point of that.
Because they know Vegas isn’t a real sports city. The A’s have gotten almost double that capacity at the dump of a Coliseum many times.30,000 seats? What's the point of that.
Which is (only lol) almost 40% of the entire league.Only 11 teams averaged more than 31 per game last year. Gate #s are mattering less and less. Plus they'll have more expensive than average tickets.
