Their play is unbelievably sloppy. So they either have tuned AV out, or his system/coaching is just not good, (or too complicated; same difference).

The sloppiness is so bad, it looks like we’re still in preseason mode.

There was one play late in the game where our defender moved the puck up ice, 2 Rangers went for it, and neither came away with it.

Yup stuff like that is happening every game. So many missed passes, bad reads and just seeming like it’s a bunch of guys who’ve never played together before. Like no familiarity. In the offensive zones people are passing where nobody is and then others are getting in the way. It’s just painful to watch.

We'll just wait to buy NHL19 and hope everything gets better.

This team isn't at the point where it should even consider tanking providing the right pieces are added but I do have my doubts as to whether JG has what it takes to get the job done..

We are now 10 games in. The losing/record isn't what is concerning me. It is that after 10 games they are still playing like ass. After 10 games this team seems no more coordinated than it did after game 1. After 10 games we are still giving up goals 1 minute in, our defense is still sloppy, Lundqvist is still playing really, really bad and we aren't scoring the way we need to.

3 easy games, perfect for a new coach. But what will happen is that AV will get a longer leach and that blows.

I wouldn't have traded him in the first place but as far as finding a replacement?
I honestly have no idea.
They don't exactly grow on trees and JG should've been smart enough to know that instead of thinking Zbad was capable of shouldering the load.

There's really only two options. And one of them is about as unlikely as it gets.

I'm pretty convinced that Tavares is leaving the Islanders. He would have signed by now. Every franchise player has been taken care of a year in advance (Price, Benn, Marchand, Kopitar, Toews, Kane).. nobody has gotten this far with out an extension except for Parise and we saw how that worked for the Devils.

I have no idea why Tavares would want to sign here unless he's tired of the Islanders shenanigans but wants to remain in the NY area.

The other option is to go the route that half the teams in the league took and find your franchise center at the top of the draft. That has to be a two year plan though because we would Hopefully be coming away with one of Svech or Dahlin first.

But let's be real we aren't a Cup contender this year or next so we might as well get something out of it. The worst possible thing is to be mediocre. Not good enough to make the playoffs, not bad enough to draft at the top.
