Confirmed Trade: [NYR/VAN] JT Miller, Erik Brannstrom, Jackson Dorrington for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, 2025 1st round pick (top 13 protected)

Amazing that a guy that desirable for his cap hit had such poor value.

Listen, I get it, he is an amazing player. But he is one of a small handful of players that doesn’t always play well with others. That big meanie you reference had to take tome away from the team this year. He has issues, which significantly diminishes his value. In that context, the trade us fair value. And again, the team with him has been shit this year, they aren’t a contender, won’t be next year, so a futures package plus cap space is not that bad a deal.
I agree with you the Canucks are shit with or without Miller, they can't seem to replicate last season. But there's literally 0 reason to keep EP too. Trade them both or just keep Miller.

He's been injured every single season he's played from what I see, and aside from two seasons ago, he's been on a 30-40 point pace each season, including this one. Eleven goals in 41 games is a 22 goal pace, so sure, I guess you can call him a goal-scoring centre. I'd call him a pathetic return for a point-per-game player who only last season scored 100 points and who is also on a good contract given how high the cap will be going up...

And the Rangers aren't a basement team, especially after this move, so the 1st rounder isn't amazing. The other prospect sounds completely insignificant.
He gets zero PP time but the goal scoring comment is meant more to highlight that he’s a shooter as opposed to a distributor. He’s a very good player when healthy.

finally the drama is over. ep and his 11.6 is under the microscope now. either produce or gtfo as well. everyone kneww the return would be overwhelming

We are still looking at the Horvat trade to see how Raty turns out. See the same happening here with potential of a unprotected pick and a young prospect filling our D void.

I honestly thought the Miller only waving to New York was just talk. So taking that in to account I do not mind this deal.

Suspect we see some more trades after the new guys get some looks.

This was always going to be the type of return when Miller had full control of where he was going to go. Whether it was NY, DET, TB, etc. The team he chose was getting a discount.

Chytil will now get more opportunities, so let’s see where that takes this trade. Mancini could be serviceable later as well, and in 3-4 years the pick will hopefully be an impact player.

The Canucks aren’t done either. Whether that’s making the decision to still trade Pettersson and do a hard retool, we’ll see, but they’re not done. Expect a Top 4 Dman at least, and soon. Probably more Chiarot type than a Byrum, but we’ll see.

What catering? Rutherford put him on notice that he is being shopped and will go if it makes sense for the team.Time is up.
Shopped and traded are two different things, especially when interpersonal conflicts cause your play to fall of the face of the Earth in year one of your 93M contract. Guy is making 11.6M per year and on pace for 60 points, I don't care how much "potential" exists if he's going to live under his own personal rain cloud with no end in sight.

JR also said something along the lines that having to trade his core meant also having to trade QH. Dude is about eight years past his best before date as a hockey executive so I don't really put that much stock in what he has to say. He seems to talk just to hear himself talk, given he's spent the last few months pouring accelerant on the whole situation in the media.

I'm glad we got this done. At this point I really didn't care if we are on the losing side of a trade. We knew we were gonna be in a losing side of the trade. We just needed to move on from him, as he's already clashed with Boeser, Bo horvat and now its pettersson, he's literally clashing with all our previous best players. Best of luck to JT Miller. Hes a very good offensive player, he can drive offence, no question about it. Rangers is a better team than yesterday.
