Confirmed Trade: [NYR/VAN] JT Miller, Erik Brannstrom, Jackson Dorrington for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, 2025 1st round pick (top 13 protected)

I don't know if anyone here keeps up with wrestling, but this move kind of reminds me of AEW (WWE's main rival) getting rid of CM Punk because he was an asshole. The problem is, CM Punk was and is the biggest star they ever had, but the owner of the company sided with a few guys in the locker room who hated him. Well, a big chunk of AEW's audience seemed to leave with him and the company is much less popular today.

In this instance, I think the Canucks will be a weaker team, led by softies like Elias Petterson the 1st, who will continue producing at a pathetic pace, and the team will cease to be a contender for the foreseeable future.

I may be wrong here, but Chytil sounds like a slightly higher scoring Podkolzin. Great defensive player who makes smart moves but can't score to save his life. Is that accurate?

I really liked Mancini. He came out of nowhere. Like finding a bunch of cash in a pocket of someting you haven't worn in a long time. I wish him the best.

I like Chytil too, but he has a frightening injury history. Please... keep your head up, kid.

Was kinda hoping to see KAM on the move. I don't want to give him a big contract.

Overall, it looks like a great deal. Unless Miller has bodies buried in shallow graves in his yard or something. The Rangers desperately need more snarl. Hopefully he doesn't show up here and cause issues.

Cleared up cap space for what? There's literally not a single thing yall can do with $8m that makes the team better than with Miller. That's why it's one of the stupidest trades in recent memory
Uh, the team has been shit with Miller. Literally. And yes, you can improve the team with 8mm and a top 20 first + the young 20 goal C you picked up. Also suspect Petey’s play picks up.

I’m not a fan of either team but this was fair value, not like they were winning Cups with Miller, the over reactions here are pretty funny.

So basically rangers make playoffs or its protected. Awful for canucks
I look at it like if the Rangers don't get any better it's protected. Which seems fair. If Miller is an improvement over Chytil they should be able to make up 5 points or so over the next 30 games. They can still miss the playoffs and have to give up the pick.

I couldn't have said it better. Although I don't think Miller is quite the asshole Punk is

This is a clear win for you guys bud, you know that right?

No it's not. Mancini was very promising for us. And you get a first rounder? For what? We're f***ing closer to not making the playoffs than making the playoffs. This is a Drury Hail Mary because he's incompetent.

And BTW, the biggest issue with this team is culture and leadership. How the f*** does Miller help with those things? And look at Miller's contract.

This trade doesn't make any sense, except for the fact that Drury is trying his hardest to keep his job.

RE: people who are saying that Miller was the Canucks best forward

Perhaps in past seasons—but his attitude and effort this year made it clear that he was not going to be that player for Vancouver anymore. Canucks had to cut bait while they could. The likelihood was that the offers would only get worse the more toxic that Miller became in the locker room.

Beauvillier f***ing sucks.

Not sure about Raty, but Mancini us an interesting prospect.

Pretty sure the Nucks used that 17th overall pick as the main piece to acquire Hronek that has really helped their team.

So, for now id pick the Horvat return.
Nyr got fleeced if chytil stays health. Mancini is going to be a stud. No reason for him not to be playing top4 for us right now.
