Confirmed Trade: [NYR/VAN] JT Miller, Erik Brannstrom, Jackson Dorrington for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, 2025 1st round pick (top 13 protected)

Fair enough but i also heard rumours miller was affecting more than petey in the locker room.

Whatever it is I truly don’t care. I’m just saying I can live the return if something like this happened to my team. Is it embarrassing? Yes but it needed to be done. Rip the band aid off and move forward.
Rip the band aid off by trading the guy who doesn't show up, not the guy who just wants to win.

Why top 13 protected? By point-percentage the Rangers are currently tied for 12th with Montreal. Is it really that important to them to leapfrog the Islanders or something?

Feel like top 10 protected would have been better for the Rangers, giving them lottery protection and in case the team just doesn't gel and continues a bad season. But, even if unlikely, them finishing with the 12th/13th pick and instead, however slim, them giving up a chance at McKenna and/or winning the lottery next year is worse then just giving up the pick this year.

So then throw out the entire Canucks core out by that logic since they made a legit run before falling to Vegas in 7. There's also athletes from the NBA/NHL who said that format was way tougher to keep focused.
Yah, hence why so many said that team was an anomaly, you know because if covid hadn't happened they wouldn't even have made the playoffs. They only took Vegas to seven because Demko stood on his head. Nobody is using that season as a legitimate barometer of success.

That does y'all no good. You get a mid pick in a meh draft this year and nothing next year beyond a vague suggestion of schadenfreude. If NYR resumes their prior freefall, you get a probably much better pick in a much better draft.
Yeah, brain fart - edited that post

Would've thought that VAN could get Emery as part of the deal...guess not. Certainly received nothing like the haul that VAN board members expected. Chytil is young, yeah, but I don't know that i would want to re-up him for a lot of money. Maybe he will flourish away from NY?

...No i would still consider it a "win" for them. NYR may receive more value if Miller outperforms his current production but I'd still consider accomplishing their objective (excising the lockerroom problems) a win--barring of course info that they turned down a better offer from somewhere else. If they're better, they "won", essential. IMO of course.
Do you think that they wouldve been a better team today if they had figured a way to co-exist and solve their locker room issues? That's the best team.

They made the trade they had to, but there's no way that management was excited about making this deal. Hence, they had to lose the trade for the greater good. Which still means they lost the trade.

We won't agree on the semantics I guess, so I'll leave it at that.

25 yr old who has never hit 45 points is excellent? They got Trocheck because he couldn’t be the 2C, he’s a very good 3C.. who got traded for a 100 point 1C
To be fair to Fil, he was slotted at the 2nd line center and was producing until he was derailed by his season-ending concussion. He never had the chance to get his job back because Trochek slide into his spot and has been there ever since.
