Confirmed Trade: [NYR/VAN] JT Miller, Erik Brannstrom, Jackson Dorrington for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, 2025 1st round pick (top 13 protected)

Geez u must be a ton of fun at parties...........it's not all doom and gloom. Give Pete 20 games here to see how he does without Miller and then have some judgements please........

I'm very pleased with this trade. Not sure what we are gonna do with our cap space and the assets we acquired but u know it will be put to work........let's see where.

He parlayed Bo into a top 4 RHD - something we were in desperate need of. Let's see what they choose to do this time. If it were me I'd want a Top 4 LHD then a 2/3C if you can find one althou that can wait to the offseason......a Top 4 LHD is our biggest need atm IMO.
I am doom and gloom because I want this team to have players that want to win not whiney soft players that don't show up when it matters most.... hahaha ok then.....

I don't think it's terrible for Vancouver. Chytil will get more offensive chances in Vancouver than he did in NYR and I think there's more there for him to provide. The biggest concern is his injury history particularly concussions.

The 1st they can flip for defensive help & they clear cap for that, too.

It's not great, but it's manageable for Canucks.

Horrible for Vancouver. It is tough when the entire world knows you have to trade the guy.

Chytil is always a guy touching him away from a concussion.

Feel bad for Vancouver.

Yeah so an expected bad return. As Rutherford told the whole media.

Miller is a loser though so I doubt this helps the rangers much. So many people saying he’s a “guy you win with” forgetting he’s been traded from multiple teams now and has never come close to winning anything. Being an asshole doesn’t make you a winner, it just makes you an asshole.

Pettersson will go back to god mode now. I think the Canucks improve a lot with this.
He better revert back to his former self. Pettersson has ZERO excuses now. He got what he wanted, now go play.

On your point, I see it like this:

VAN with Petey, Miller, and no locker room issues is better than VAN post-trade which is better than VAN pre-trade (due to locker room issues).

If you agree with the above, then VAN lost the trade.... but unfortunately they had to do it.
...No i would still consider it a "win" for them. NYR may receive more value if Miller outperforms his current production but I'd still consider accomplishing their objective (excising the lockerroom problems) a win--barring of course info that they turned down a better offer from somewhere else. If they're better, they "won", essential. IMO of course.

Chytil is a good get... rather have him over Lafreniere.. not a terrible deal at all. 1st round pick will be key.

*this is Lafreniere's 5th season and he's on pace for 49 points... and he makes close to $8 million a year.
Chtyil is a low level 2nd liner. Lafreniere is far better and would likely flourish if he got away from the idiots in NY.

Canucks probably make the playoffs now if Demko stops being so bad, Miller and his inflated ego go back to being irrelevant and the Rangers in typical Rangers fashion, go and buy a big name they'll have to buy out in a couple years, all that for a guy they traded away not that long ago.

hahaha you think they are solved by removing the guy who wanted to win and keeping the soft player who doesn't show up when it matters, hahahaha
I’m not going to pretend to know the inner workings here for your locker room but from what was presented in the media miller was a bully and known locker room cancer.

They made a bet on Peterson which given his age was probably the right one. If as a GM you are going to fall on a sword he’s probably the one you fall on. I won’t make any guesses on if Pertey lives up to his contract now with his bully gone. The situation was too out of hand for a professional locker room and neither miller or Petey come out of this looking good. As an oilers fan I don’t really care if Vancouver gets better or worse here, just if I was a Vancouver fan I’d be more relieved than not tonight and the return would be immaterial to me because the trade was always going suck and they were always going to lose. Props for ripping the band aid off though.

If Pettersson starts playing better just because Miller is gone, then the Canucks got a big problem on their hands.

Dear Nucks fans,

I have great news and awful news for you.

Put away EP, don't look at point totals. You will LOVE FIlip Chytil and he is an exceptional player with a great shot, tremendous IQ and a great work ethic!

He is also one normal hit away from LTIRetirement and I would have never traded for him despite how amazing he is.

I hope I'm dead wrong because he's amazing but this ends poorly for the Nucks IM very controversial O.

I can't see Petterson not being somewhat embarrassed by this - his boss had to get rid of another very good player so he can play good hockey again - it's just seems weak, plus the chance it makes your team even worse

Vancouver received young assets for JT Miller and his contract? That's a win for them. Chytil is an excellent player when he's healthy. Emphasis on the last three words.
25 yr old who has never hit 45 points is excellent? They got Trocheck because he couldn’t be the 2C, he’s a very good 3C.. who got traded for a 100 point 1C

Vancouver should have traded Pettersson. Miller is way better.

Vancouver got hosed on the return. They got garbage.
I wanted both to stay and will miss JT a lot and if EP doesn't rebound this may look bad.

That being said I like Chytil and I fully expect that pick to be used as part of another deal similar to the Horvat trade tree.
