If Callahan re-signs in TB then NYR get TB 2nd in 2015 and TB gets Rangers 7th in 2015

People bringing up Lundqvist and his prime are spot on. The team has to make a move to win it sometime in the next three years. This is the first move. Sather is going all in.

Agree.

Agree to disagree.

One of the worst in our history.

We're a ****ing circus. A joke. St. Louis demands a trade here and we have to give up an arm, leg, and kidney for a 38 year old player who's a UFA after next year.

An arm and a leg and a kidney? We got a top 10 scorer who is just about guaranteed to re-up with us. If we were the only team he wanted to go to, why would he leave unless he's pushed out?

The Rangers have over a year to recoup the lost draft pick. St Louis makes the team better THIS YEAR AND NEXT!!!!!!!

The same people that **** on Callahan are upset about the deal.

From a hockey standpoint, the Rangers absolutely won this trade. Roster building might be another story. 2nd round picks don't bother me. 1st round picks do. At least weren't going to have a 2nd year in a row without one, probably why Sather did the 2015 one. Not going to react too strongly to that, sincere could potentially get it back.

More details: the 2nd-rounder in 2014 to Tampa becomes a 1st if NYR gets to conf final; if Callahan re-signs in TB then NYR get TB 2nd in 2015 and TB gets Rangers 7th in 2015

Guys Im not really wild about the trade as a bolts fan. Marty is a playmaking machine. Just look at his PPG playing with rookies pretty much the whole year.

I am really going to miss MSL. You guys are really going to enjoy watching him.

He will most likely turn Kreider into a superbeast.

Callahan left us no choice with his ridiculous demands. Better to overpay a little and get a very attractive piece in return rather than lose him for nothing or give him a ridiculous contract.

Before it broke, lots of talk about how badly they wanted Callahan to remain in the room. Lots of shock that it appears to be happening.

They should've pleaded with Callahan not to ask for the moon and stars with his contract if that was the case. I don't feel bad.

St. Louis is awesome, but we could've waited until the draft and got him for A LOT cheaper. Reeks of NY Knicks and James "Scrotumface" Dolan.

Good. He needs to. We have some replacements in Duclair and Buch for in a few years. Miller looks legit. Kreider finally looking legit. This is the time to go for it and still have a future.

I have a question for those who really don't like this trade:

What's worse, signing Callahan to a $6MM+ per year, or making this trade?

Good trade except that the 1st & 2nd picks need to be reversed for 2014 & 2015

Other than that, we have MSL locked up through next season and don't have to overpay for Cally

Best of luck 24, thanks for everything :handclap:

(score another one for Boomer, by the way)

Well, we better win now because our prospect depth will be nonexistent in a few years. And even teams who have won cups, like Chicago, still manage to have a pretty stacked prospect pool to remain continuously successful.

I hope this doesn't mean that Richards won't get bought out.

The only way this trade makes sense:

Our best G and F (Lundqvist and Nash) are at their peak right now. There is maybe a 3-4 year window of opportunity left if you want to use those guys to push for a cup.

a 2015 1st does not help with that cause.

MSL for the next 2-3 years, does.... and hope someone like Stantsny reaches UFA.

People, we have entered 'Win Now" mode. I just wanted to tell you, Good luck, we're all counting on you.

Short game: Push all-in for the next few years
long game: blow it all up in 4-5 years. true reboot

Let's take a deep breath. We have drafted 1 All Star and 1 potential All Star in the first round since I can remember. Who knows what Chere would be.

Not gonna lie, I'm excited, but this is pretty bad for the Rangers. We should have been GETTING picks for Callahan, not TRADING them. This is why I have beef with people calling this team a contender. That mentality leads to moves like this.

WHAT THE ****... the trade is getting worse.
If NYR get to the ECF this year the 2014 2nd becomes a 1st!!!
What.....****.
