I think we overpaid, but I guess this was the "Buy it now" price.

I just don't know how that first didn't have a "games played" condition on it. Tarasenko is often injured. He's a sniper that's two weeks back from a hand injury. It's great that we're at least giving up the crappier of the two picks, but we never seem to be able to get good conditions on our trades, historically. I mean, the condition on the other pick is just making the playoffs, so it's basically a lock to improve to a 3rd.

If these guys play well, it's a moot point. But I do think this was a risky trade for a player with some city miles on him.

It could even be K'Andre Miller or another 18 year old Chris Kreider.

Wasn't Kreider a 19 OA?

Not really in the same realm.

I mean the pick could also be David Pasternak but it can be a Dylan Olsen, Jacob Josefson, Jordan Caron, Beau Bennett, Tyler Biggs, Henrik Samuelsson or a host of other guys picked in that range who never make it. Much more likely that happens than that they even become NHL regulars, let alone good NHL regulars or stars.

Yeah, but winning one round isn't the goal.

I think that's this organization's problem.

It sees the end goal as winning a round or two. That placates the fanbase as sufficiently "fun," and placates ownership as sufficiently profitable.

I know you say "talent isn't the issue, it's the internal development that is holding us back," but until something else changes, all I have to point to regarding the consistent underachievement is adding more young talent.
And you see the end goal as winning a cup. Some arbitrary achievement. The end goal should be transformative excellence. That is what is wrong with society.

I find it hard to believe Troch comes off PP1 with a large part of his presence on PP1 being that he wins the faceoff to maintain immediate possession in zone for a unit that I find has a TON of trouble entering the zone aside from when Shesterkin catches team changing for free entry.

I think what Tarasenko will bring is the much needed urgency for PP2 utilization. He's an elite scoring threat, who should give that unit a one timer option to make them a scoring threat.

It'll be Trouba not Miller and one of the kids will likely come off for Goodrow to play netfront just because GG is dumb like that with certain things though.

Having acquired a top 6 RW and a bottom pair D, they should absolutely not move Kravtsov.
I agree, and thought the people were hoping for a lower event trade deadline would appreciate that about this trade.

Plus Trocheck allows the other 4 guys, who happen to be elite at their craft, to be in their ideal spots.

In a normal draft, maybe. In this draft, I think you are giving up a lot.

That being said, you need to count on your team to consistently outhit other teams in terms of landing good players in the late first. That's what separates teams with staying power from those who burn out quickly.

You can't give up a first rounder four years in a row with no hardware to show for it.

Tank on PP2 would give the Kids someone to defer to who isnt Trouba launching mortar shell slapshots in the general vicinity of the opposing net

Is just way nubbier than...

Kreider
Panarin Mika Tarasenko
Fox

This isn't EA sports.

I really like the trade, we did give up a first round pick and it stings, but ...

We just added a great top 6 rw (with proven playoff performance) and defense depth to a roster that has a vezina caliber goalie, a norris caliber defenseman and by seasons end probably 3 30ish goal scorers on the team.

I'll take my chances against any team in the league

As long as Goodie is far away from the pp units, then its a better positive for the 2nd PP unit

It's a good thing they'll still have the higher of their 1sts and have also kept all the guys who are closest to contributing. Rest assured they will be selecting in the 1st round of this draft lol.

Being a GM is all about balance. You can't be just 100% focused on the now but you also can't be just 100% focused on the future. It's about striking the right balance.

You don't want to give away all your value every year in short sighted moves but you also don't want to miss your window. If you have a million assets and a great system but never strike in your window and you could be looking back at a blown opportunity.

This is a good move because you're getting upgrades for the now without selling out the future. You traded a couple surplus assets, with only the late 1st stinging. We still have the better first for this draft and we didn't give up any top prospects. This deal is a perfect example of making a move to go for it now without selling the farm. It's good for the now and for the future (bc you didn't give up too much).

Coming off an ECF appearance, team playing at a similar pace this season on a real heater the last 30 games - it would've been borderline malpractice for Drury to not make some 'go for it' moves for this year, seeing the ages of the stars, the contract statuses of the kids. This is a perfect year to try and go on a run. With our high end talent, kids starting to outperform their cap hits and our goalie - this team can win a 7 game series against anyone in the league. Idk if they will, but they absolutely can go on a run and that's what this is all about.

Amazing. PS5 is a great console but the catalog has been pretty lackluster especially for my taste so far, but this game takes me back to my childhood. I feel like it’ll take me forever to finish it though because I’m having so much fun exploring
I can't wait till it unlocks tomorrow for us normies.
