Interesting trade. We'll see how it pans out. I'm still wary of trading DZ though. He's young and he's got a very, very rare skill set.
What skill set is that? An OFD who is completely ineffective on the PP??

Klein isn't unlike a less credentialed version of Girardi, on Girardi's initial deal.
With out situation at LHD and RHD, this makes a lot of sense. I'm not saying I'm thrilled, but I think this will benefit NYR in the long run. Klein is on a better priced deal than Del Zotto would have likely gotten.
By the way, of the players who have hit arbitration or held out on NYR,
Avery
Zherdev
Dubinsky
Del Zotto
Stepan
4 of 5 have been traded or let go.
I know people love Mcilrath and i love his toughness BUT he doesnt seem to be a talented defensemen. yes he is young but even for a young guy he doesnt have strong skills yet he was picked in teh top 10
do not like, cant wait to see Del Zotto find his offensive game in Nashville and everyone here scratch their heads at the thought that he can actually hit the net. Tyutin 2.0.
at least Klein is on a great contract, if he can be Sauer 2.0 ill be happy, but i still think DZ has alot of potential.
While I'm not quite sold on it myself, a 3rd pair d-man for a guy who will likely also be a third pair d-man isn't going to make any team "much better." It's a relatively minor role.
Nothing to do with fighting. I think Stralman likes NYC. I think Girardi likes NYC. I thought both were going to resign. Getting Klein doesn't change that.

Bad asset management all around.
This trade doesn't make us much better in any way.
Agreed, but I would've much rather packaged MDZ with someone like Brassard to make an actual trade.
This is a sideways trade for what should've been a trade chip that could've been used to improve the team. I think we failed to do that.
What did yu think we were gonna get for MDZ, Kane? Wheeler?. the fact is MDZ always has had potential but the last couple years he has really regressed. sather tried to rip off someone but nobody would bite
Poile with two great buy-low moves in the past week. MDZ can't be any worse and he could improve significantly in NSH. MDZ picking up assists feeding Weber for bombs on the PP isn't outrageous.

1) he has nothing to do with this
2) i'll be shocked if hes ever a regular for the rangers
