MDZ gave the rangers good looks which is one of the requirements of being a ranger. is klein good looking enough to wear a rangers sweater????

Bem4j4LCQAAkkCj.jpg hmmmm....

Well, Klein does play the right side...I was thinking that someone like him or Jason Demers was someone that the Rangers needed...the problem was finding a team needing a left D.

Klein's looks are debatable. If a mohawk, beard and murderous look in your eyes is good looking, he ups our quotient. If it's just 'flow' and 'swag' that makes you good looking, maybe not. Although some might say the mohawk and beard are a kind of swagger of their own. I don't know. I'm out of the loop.

One thing I keep reading here is the way Moore will be allowed to play his offensive game.
Maybe I am blind or just looking at the wrong part of the ice in all these Rangers games I devotedly watch, but I have not seen that game from Moore. Maybe it's there under the covers?

Well Moore likely gets 2nd pair PP minutes now so we will see. He's got some offensive upside from what I've seen as he can carry the pick into the zone well

Klein brings a physical presence that the Rangers sorely need.

Funny how so many fans were all over DZ, but now that he's gone, there is second guessing.

Reminds me of when you broke up with a girl who was hot, but a pain in the a$$. After she's gone, all you can remember was how hot she was.

Del Zoto is going to look VERY good working the puck with a guy like Weber. Del Z finally has a hard shooting Dman to work the PP with. Your going to see a lot of things open up for Del Zoto with the Preds.

This will surprise me. MDZ has really been woeful at the NHL level. He is not a very good defenseman and he is pretty much terrible with the puck.

Everyone please calm down stop arguing over a healthy scratch, okay? I'm just glad we got back a center for del sotto. Cline can find the twine, LOL! That rhymes!!

He will replace Bran Boyle and be on the pwer play.

Good luck in Oklahoma, del sotto.

Edit: Oh sorry, just saw he is a third pair defnsmen.

Do people really see Klein jumping into Girardi's role on the top pair if he's moved or leaves? He's 29 at this point I don't think there's untapped potential there, not saying he's not a good defender but he wasn't a top pairing guy in Nashville, ever, why would he be here:huh:

Good trade, Klein is a solid, physical, defenseman with a right handed shot. This is a solid player signed for several years. And he clears the front of the net like his life depended on it.

I'm not sure if this post is hilarious or pathetic.

However you look at it this team got better. Was this the best return we could have gotten? I wouldn't says so, but it was a solid move. Also puts less pressure on the organization to force McIlrath's development given the need for a crease clearing d-man.

I'm guessing he will hold onto the #8 he was wearing in NSH.

Stay-at-home D that wear the #8 have a great legacy here in NY. Bring on the shootout!!

Hopefully Durant will be able to show him how to hit the net. Wish nothing but the best for him there.

So now we can finally wash our hands with DZ.... glad that's over... now on to hank, cally, stepan, richards, nash, girardi, brassard, poo,Talbot, moore 1 and 2,boyle and carbomb

Ha. I was at that game. Nah, I watched them for a few years while I was living there. No zone collapse. Checked in with my buddy who lives there today and is a huge fan, and I actually asked him specifically what system Trotz has them running these days. What I told you is what he told me. It sounds like they're running this (from that guys defense descriptions)

Nothing revoltionary. Box+1.

Goes to show how much influence EA's NHL series has over this board's hockey knowledge. Prior to the D-Pad being used to control degrees of strategy, you had a setting for good old box+1.

A lot of teams use this structure to take up passing lanes, and block shots.

Unlike Tort's "total" zone collapse, Box+1 has 4 guys collapsing in a box formation while 1 guy pressures.

AV plays straight man on man D with man pressure all the time.

Used KK as a filler on my fantasy team in the past. Blocks a lot of shots, gets a few hits, never gets pims, doesnt fight often. Seems like a generic defensive d man. I didnt know DZ's value was so low. As long as this was AV's call Im ok with it. Lets see what he can do.

Dunno if this has been posted or if anyone saw it, but I found this thread that was posted back in June. Provides some interesting insight and opinions on the guy and his value to the team from Preds fans.

Obviously it's not necessarily a reflection of thoughts this year as things may have changed, but I feel like it's mostly valid. At least I hope it is!

FWIW I believe that guy that writes the blog is the son of a long time time hockey coach and he does a lot of analysis after every game. It's basically the only blog/newspaper I've seen go into depth with strategic analysis. I highly doubt he picked it up from a video game.

AV's system also has a lot to do with what the defender does with the puck after gaining possession which is something a lot of the Rangers dmen have had trouble with.

Because Nashville has a top 5 dman in the NHL who plays the same side and also had Suter until last year? Klein's not as good as G, but he's not really far behind and plays a nearly identical style. He'd fit next to McD and it would look almost identical.

I really haven't seen Klein, but my first thought after reading the various descriptions about his play suggests that he's more likely insurance if Strålman proves hard to re-sign.

I don't really do advanced stats, but I would be grateful if someone would look into Klein's zone starts/finishes, quality of comp, etc. I believe he's a much, much better dman than 99% realize.
