Contract is fine but the issue is more their NYR skaters, I don't trust them winning a Cup when they can't have adequate depth around their 2 overrated centers and mediocre blue line who can't breakout. Shesterkin is a god though, gonna be annoying still dealing with him within the division next 8 years. It could end up like a Cory Schneider Devils or Ilya Sorokin current Islanders but we'll see.

Go look at his playoff stats, the value of the contract is there. The NYR should be expected to make the playoffs yearly and run through the regular season. Shesterkin isn't the issue in the regular season.

Easily one of the top five goaltenders in the league, so the money makes sense. A lot more skaters get paid above that number.

Some people just continue to look down at the value of a great goalie. If you're near the best at your position you should be paid just as much as the best at other positions. In time, people will get used to it. Shesterkin wanted to be the trailblazer for goaltenders salaries.
