exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally.

And the Yandle comment wasn't hyperbole. Yandle and McIlrath had 20 games together last year where they had the highest rel CF% of any pair in the NHL. It's a small sample but it's a pair that Florida would be wise to try.

Are you claiming that you weren't being serious or that he was just misusing the term?

Do you really think he looked like an all-star?

And that's what you think makes a player look like an All-Star.

Well what more do you want?

They were also near the top of the league in GF%, scoring chance numbers, gave up almost no high-danger scoring chances, and every Rangers fan on this board was raving about that pair.

We have a source that's telling us that Yandle pushed for this move. They were an excellent pair.

I think it's an unusual case of confirmation bias.

When the possession numbers say a player sucks, he watches and see a player who sucks.

When they say a player is good, he watches and sees a player who is good.

Not because that's what is actually happening, but because it's what he wants, and expects to see. If you expect to see good, that's what you will look for. If you expect to see poor play, that's what you will be focusing on. It's why objectivity is important, and if the statistics are that important to you in determining the effectiveness of a player, you aren't objective.

Yes, that's what I'm claiming.

With Yandle -yes, over a small sample- they were one of the best pairs in the NHL for like a good month, and I think Florida should try it.

See above. I'd want a bit more than to just follow the numbers around like a lemming.

Thanks for explaining to me how I watch hockey. I gotta take a dump, so you've got any tips on that, I'm all ears.

The way you watch hockey is obvious based on what you say. When you try to argue that McIlrath is better than Fowler, and you argue it the way you do, it's pretty obvious that you follow the statistics, and you don't make objective observations based on the actual play on the ice. You see what you expect to see, based on what you think the statistics say.

Make sure to wipe. If you'd like, you can print out this conversation and use that.

Keith Yandle wants to play with him. Is Yandle following the numbers around like a lemming?

Yandle may think he's a solid young player to take a chance on. That's about all that means. You'll continue to reach and make whatever conclusion you want, based on how it fits your point of view.

Who cares honestly?

Weber and Josi had one of the worst. What does that mean?

I didn't make any conclusion.

I said for like 20 games last year he was really, really good. Most Rangers fans would tell you the same thing.

Lots of guys have stretches like that. Hell, Michael Grabner, David Clarkson, and Jonathan Cheechoo have enjoyed entire seasons of being elite-level players. It doesn't necessarily mean anything.

All I said was he looked incredible for a short stretch with a particular partner, Florida happens to employ said partner, and it's worth a try. It's not an outrageous claim at all, but people read what they wanna read.

That means Josi sucks defensively. I've been saying that for years.

You also said he is "the worlds best complimentary partner".

That's a pretty outrageous claim.

Explain to me then, with the hundreds of Predators games I'm sure you've watched, what makes Josi good defensively.

All I ever hear is "you can't interpret stats" but I wanna hear somebody interpret hockey.

And I don't wanna here "X coach and Y GM thinks he's good" either, I wanna hear a hockey argument.
