I replied to a specific post. I wasn't just yelling at clouds. Maybe that poster is blocked for you and you missed the context.
No it was my mistake. I should have pointed out that I think there was more posters than you think who was fed up with Gorton. But we are maybe not the guys who post most:)

You can't possibly believe that the team the Rangers had on the ice was more talented than whom the Islanders had on the ice.

In a year or two, maybe that's more talent, but not yet. The differences between the top 6 D is overwhelmingly better for the Islanders.

At forward, it's closer, but it's still the Islanders. The Isles also arguably have the best 4th line in hockey, and they are difference makers. Rangers 4th line might be as bad as any team in the league.

On paper, names like Laf and Kakko jump out with potential, but this year they haven't yet approached their respective ceilings.

defense i agree.

forwards i vehemently disagree. We have a ton more talent. Our second line has panarin on it! The best player from both teams.
We dont have experience.

but we lacked hustle. We got outworked. That is what is unacceptable.

quinn also has zero system for forechecking.

That's definitely something to consider. But he's got a year left on his deal and you've got to start thinking about a long-term plans for him.

The last part is going to be driving factor.

As I responded to MH earlier. The contract issue is valid.

Does 6 on 5 have a large sample size? How does it compare with 6 on 5 stats with other teams?

Not trying to be obnoxious, but I don't know these things.

I don't know. But I can't remember any moments in the last year or so where this iteration of the franchise tied a game in the closing seconds. I do recall a lot of failed zone entries and just a lot of passing around and not just shooting the puck and crashing/jamming the net to literally push the puck over the line in a scrum. And I'm not saying that it's doable 7 out of 10 times, or even 5 of 10 times. But I'd like to see one on occasion that shows me the team went down swinging.

There's something I need to say. I was a computer consultant for Cablevision years ago, for about a year.

I worked with Dolan on one of my projects. He is an ahole and a loon.

One time he asked me to put some changes into an internal Help system. I reviewed his request for a few days and discovered it wouldn't do what he wanted it to do. He told me he knew better and to just do what he wanted, so I did.

About a month later, I did a demo for him and some other execs. Before the meeting, I told him it will fail in what he wants. He said, let's go to the meeting.

Did a PowerPoint presentation and a live preview of the system. What I previously told him would be a problem, was a problem.

He screamed at me at the meeting and told me I didn't do what he had asked me to do.

I looked around the room and everyone was pretending to not be hearing any of this. They had all been at the first meeting and knew I was right.

No one said a word because they were scared of him.

Oddly, he didn't fire me.

Dolan was hated by most everyone at Cablevision. His father was beloved by nearly everyone.

Whenever techs had to go to his house, they dreaded it. He treated them all like shit.

When they went to his father's house, they were fed and treated great.

James Dolan is a cowardly, ignorant waste of human life.

I entertain that, but then I feel like he's gone too.

If the chaos is caused by not firing the coach, it seems weird to turn around and keep the coach. Especially when someone like Martin would just fill-in.

I don't think Quinn was the sticking point. I just don't get that vibe.

On this thought process, the only reason why he isn't fired is because there were three games left (now two)... There's no point in firing him just yet if you need someone behind the bench.

At least, this is the only thing that makes sense to me. He's a figurehead at this point -- a dead man walking -- and he likely knows it. His time was up in March, but you need someone to play out the remaining games of the season...

If this is true, it confirms that there was some sort of blowup in the front office. I don't think firing these two guys was the right move, but given how awful the rangers have looked in crunch time the past month or so, it all makes sense to me

Just playing devil's advocate here, but Knoblauch was fine subbing for Quinn.

I do not see sufficient proof that ADA is a terrible person, in fact Larry Brooks' article portrays him as quite a good guy. Some people a different and can be perceived by majority as a-holes, but they really are not.

I will take our insiders words over Brooks any day of the week. TDA is a garbage human being and now he will be miserable on his couch watching hockey instead of playing it. Waste of talent...

The Islanders games are the games that everyone is going to look at, but we looked like shit in most games this season. Even before the Islanders games we struggled to beat Buffalo. We swept NJD, but those games were ugly at times. There weren't many losses I took a lot of positives out of.

So, I can kind of see where Dolan is coming from on JG. I still think he deserved at least one more year to try and put it all together.

JD still makes no sense to me.

It basically came down to Dolan telling JD he wanted Gorts gone and JD refused to fire him....so both were gone.

Forget about Pionk, why did we feel the need to trade a valuable first round pick when we're supposedly trying to be patient and rebuild the right way? We ended up paying Trouba as much money as he likely would have gotten on the open market while also giving up a valuable asset. Also the other question is why did Pionk look so bad on the Rangers and suddenly look good on the Jets? Are we really getting the most out of our talent?

This isn't just a retrospect thing as there were plenty of people who brought up concerns about trading for Trouba even before the trade was made. A huge part of Trouba's production in Winnipeg was on the power play and the analytics said that Trouba wasn't anything special on the power play and was mostly just getting points based off opportunity. He didn't project to be on our top power play and yet we paid him for production that he wasn't going to have.

I think we paid to keep him off the open market. And honestly, coming off a season like this, if we tried to acquire him now, it would probably cost us more --- at least in assets.

I think the trade value for Trouba was fair. I think the contract's a little on the higher side, but not grossly overstated. I think Pionk is a little older and more experienced that he was with us, but I don't know if he'd be looked upon favorably if he was here. I think the difference in numbers is usage. He's on the powerplay, about 1/3 to 1/2 his points are coming there. Pionk wouldn't be getting those points with Fox ahead of him, and he wouldn't be answering any questions about what we need either. So in the end, we'd probably still be trading him for a player like Trouba, if not Trouba himself.

Dolan fired JD and Gorton because the Rangers were a soft team. Matt Martin concussed Jacob Trouba. Martin elbowed Zibanejad in the face. Cal Clutterbuck checked Ryan Lindgren into the curved part of the glass at the Rangers bench. Tom Wilson threw Artemi Panarin around like a doll. Wilson punched Pavel Buchnevich in the head.

A very long time ago, Dolan lost his mind after Renney didn't dress Colton Orr against the Flyers. Ben Eager and Todd Fedoruk beat up the Rangers. Orr was in the stands eating popcorn. Dolan read the riot act to Glen Sather and Tom Renney. I believe Brooks reported that at the time. Orr was dressed in the next Rangers-Flyers game.

I remember people on this board were annoyed by what took place in the Flyers games. The Rangers looked like chumps.

SHAN-TO-HAND COMBAT

The Rangers looked like chumps last week too. Those games were frustrating to watch.

Jesper Fast was concussed by Brady Skjei last summer. Nothing happened.

excellent

JD apparently was a situation of “if he goes then I go”. And if they really scurried away from the statement, there’s some justification there.

European Hockey style hockey team.

I gotta say that I've actually laughed out loud at a few of the "what's the worst that could happen" or some variation of that Dolan posts.

I dont know if the posters are just blindly optimistic, or too young to know better. But its funny.
