I'm increasingly buying the fan theory from the main boards that Dolan was behind the tweet, JD and JG disapproved, and so they got the can.

It's the only thing that really makes sense if the tweet remains up. It also fits with reporters saying JG and JD distanced themselves from the statement.

If that's true, I feel a lot better about this whole thing.
Then why wasn't Drury let go? Quinn too for that matter. He supported the statement in his presser.

I have no problem with trading Zuc, he would only add to the problem we have of too many wingers. The trouba signing while a tad expensive i have 0 problem with, he's one of the few players id really like to have in the lineup tonight..someone would be getting freight trained
Zucc also seemed really checked out his last season here after all his friends being traded, doubt he puts up the season he's having in Minny in NY anyway

I wouldn't worry about Quinn. Dead man walking. The new leadership will bring their own coach in.

Ya, if the whole vibe is we need to be tough, Gorton wouldn't stand up to Wilson, wouldn't show some guts, then Quinn the college coach is so gone

It isn’t a fan theory, it was reported by Frank Seravalli

Edit: My bad, thought I was on main boards, you guys certainly saw this already

Can the fans form a corporation and buy the team from Dolan? Not that I am attached to JD or Gorton but their was a rational plan there.

You think maybe giving ADA the contract in the first place and then basically firing him a few months later was part of the reasoning behind today’s bloodbath?
I think it had to have played a role. It's poor management, if you knew the guy was a ticking time bomb, and was causing problems in the locker room why the hell would you even sign him to a multi-year deal?

I can't imagine Dolan was too thrilled to be flushing more millions down the drain as the Rangers sent one of their better players home for the season. Add on top of that the other buyouts, one for the face of their franchise. One for Shattenkirk 2 years after giving him a big contract and it adds up.

Lol firing your GM and president over Tom Wilson is an infinitely worse look. We took him being a moron and dismantled the front office over it... there is no worse response that I can possibly even imagine

It is, but it's Dolan. I was proud of JD and Gorton yesterday and if they weren't in support of that statement I'm very disappointed. Dolan will be Dolan.

to be fair tony is a Defenseman who has had a 60 point season which blows Tom Wilson’s best season out of the water.
One freakin year big deal. And more importantly he acted like a jerk to his team mates and others. Why would anyone want someone like this on their team,,,and the fact is no one did. Back in the early 90s the Yankees had a guy on the team named Mel Hall who had some talent but was a big A hole and bad team mate . He was giving Bernie Wilson a hard time constantly. Well the Yankees got rid of him and the team and clubhouse did a 180 and the rest is history. I don't get why anyone would want a clown like this being on the team even if he has some talent.

So the rumor (obviously unsubstantiated) is that JD and Gorton didn't back the Rangers' statement yesterday? Interesting if true. Why not let them resign then? I hope we get the full story eventually.
JD/JG: If you do this we'll resign.
Dolan: Oh yeah? You're fired!!

The incident exposed how soft this team is. It wasn't BECAUSE of Tom Wilson alone.
Did Savard getting his career ended by Cooke expose how soft the notoriously tough Bruins were too? It’s 2021 - there is nothing anyone would have done to adequately punish Wilson unless they were willing to get suspended for next season, which isn’t an issue or bravery but being an absolute moron. The league needs to fix stuff like Wilson

You have it backwards, the theory is that Dolan made the statement and JD and Gorts tried to distance themselves from it.
