Fair, but if you look at comparable deals (Marino, Edmondson), those guys are superior players to Borgen and are paid less with less term.

He was good last year and I felt like there was some sneaky low-end second pair potential in him before he reverted to JAG status in Seattle this season.

Good to see him turn it around in New York. He’s playing 18:35 a night which isn’t nothing. My initial reaction was that’s a lot of AAV for a guy who has mostly been squarely bottom pair material (even if effective). But if Rangers fans are ok with it, I’m not going to doubt there takes watching him night in and night out. Seems like this is a bet on further improvement. We shall see.

The Drury Standard is quite simple. You know he's not going to "win" any trades or negotiations, so the question then becomes: did he embarrass himself and this organization or not?

This is not an embarrassing contract. Of course objectively it isn't a good contract by any means, but using the Drury Standard it's fine.

I feel like he's like a 4.5 and his play oscillates between the two.

He's been a helpful piece to stabilize the defense, but it feels like a bit too much and a bit too long.
