As for his future, Trouba wasn’t ready to discuss whether he was open to signing a long-term deal with the Rangers.
“We haven’t really worried about it. I’m just trying to get through the night and enjoy it and everything that’s going on,” Trouba said. “I’m sure we’ll deal with it in the morning and start those talks in the morning.”

He is willing to start talks on a new

contract

I'm going to say that Gorton had Skjei reach out to Trouba and ask him if he would sign here. Player to player talks ain't in the rule book. As one poster said on another board, it would be hilarious if the Rangers traded Trouba for a much better package than they gave up. LOL. Me thinks he will be here for quite some time though. It will be fun to see a defenseman with some size that actually levels other teams best forwards. I think the last time I saw that was Beauk.

Don't expect much offense from him. His track record is 20 to 3o points and he won't be playing the PP here over DeAngelo or Fox. Unless they will go with two righties on the PP which I don't see. Hopefully, K'Andre can provide offense from the left side on the PP soon.

Skjei-Trouba
K'Andre-Fox
Hajek-DeAngelo

Rykov, Lindgen, Lundkvist, Reaunen, Keane, Gross(See where this is going.) I'm not ruling out Gorton putting together a package of two of those guys plus a Chytil or Buchnevich and getting in the top 8.

underline:
no ? he has been a disappointment, but I grade on a curve here cuz it was truly due to injury.
I could see DeAngelo moved in a big package at a big profit.
Then Skirk would eat mins for a year.
If we get good offers and he's willing to go, then sure, move Kevin.

bold:
thanks so much for the kind word.
I remain persona non grata for those threads due to my insistence on Nieves, and I will not back down.
Hopefully excess vets are dealt, Andersson and Howden are repurposed at a premium, and I will be proven right.

There are real world demands on my time atm, but I have always respected your posts, even if I did not agree 111% of the time. Feel free to pm/converse with me at any time.
We bust on you for your page long trades and faith in Nieves because we love you. Some of us, at least. As for the others, who cares. Keep posting when you can.

Have to admit that when I first saw the official tweet in Roster Building my first thought was that someone was being a complete tool and it was a fake.

Great trade for Gorton. Not sure what Winnipeg was thinking by a.) doing this deal in the first place and b.) not allowing teams to talk to him about extending.

Seems like they would've gotten more if the team trading for him knew they could get him signed. Let's just say that Winnipeg's front office isn't wowing me.

I spent a full minute checking the tweet, making sure it wasn't some fake account

Well, I wasn't interested in Trouba because I thought it would take a king's ransom ... we gave up peanuts for a player which we still can deal next season, if necessary.

Trouba is 25 and this finally solidifies RHD. In the end, if we can resign him, this is probably better than trading up to maybe get Seider or some RHD.
Just hope he doesn't command like 9 million ... dude's crazy if so.

This is very nice, we already hit the jackpot this draft, now we have still many assets to use for next off-season. This move might make you think the rebuild is nearing it's end, but I believe we're still a long way from home.

Ps.: Poor ****ing Pionk dude lol ...

It's not a bad spot for Pionk to land though. He's from a place in northern Minnesota called Hermantown--not all that far from Winnipeg. That's a 4 to 5 hour road trip.

I really can't believe this.

I was so nervous we would give up a stupid package for him. Losing Lias, ADA, Buchnevich or any of our other youngsters would have enraged me.

Getting rid of Pionk is addition by subtraction. I don't see him being anything more than a 3rd pairing PP specialist....at beset.

He is really not a good player.

The 20, that wasn't ours, is obviously a reasonable price to pay hahahahah.

Moreover, if Trouba refuses to sign on the dotted line, we can easily recoup a first for him at the deadline and probably a prospect just as good, if not better than Pionk.

What an absolute steal.

What? He will absolutely be getting prime PP minutes.
