great trade for rangers but the Jets were in a very difficult situation and the rangers took full advantage. Jets are in salary cap hell and have to re-sign laine and connors to huge deals so they couldnt take a lot of salary in return.. plus trouba wanted out for a long time. Losing trouba is a devastating blow for the jets.... they no longer have a championship caliber blueline. trouba was a bit of a headcase but a lot of that was due to not wanting to be in winnipeg. You guys got a great player entering his prime.

Pretty much dead on. This was about money, timing, and opportunity. When you’re a contender you have tough choices.

I have been pushing for his return, a free asset, repurpose the younger pivots, and ...
well you know how I roll.

Do not want Perry, my understanding his knees are shot.
Would rather see if kevin can return to form after injury.

Also, if there is enuf on the table, no one is safe, I'd move DeAngelo, and that having Shatty here helps.

I’m in the move Shattenkirk boat. Just don’t see him adding value to the team.

Btw, good to have you back posting

Do you remember the games last year where the Rangers would have a single period of complete dominance? That’s what Quinn’s system is supposed to be, but the Rangers didn’t have the players to sustain it for longer than that.

So between the coach and the way the roster is starting to come into focus (still a ways off)... things are exciting around here.
The game against the Islanders comes to mind where we spanked them for 20 minutes and went up 4-0 and then the last 40 minutes were actually really bad.

We're adding talent that will allow guys like Zibanejad and Kreider to pass the baton instead of being so top-heavy.

Doesn't help the Rangers though. That's $8M in dead space, and a terrible buyout. The biggest question is where would Kevin accept a trade to?

I think if the deal were Shatty for Perry, Anaheim would need to retain 1.975 mil to make it a net zero cap situation. Perry is done, but at least we clear up a spot on defense. With the money retained, his buyout would be pretty much the same as Shatty's.

In all seriousness, how in the world does this trade get accepted? I mean, really. How? Like, doesn't someone step in and say "uh yeah this is one sided sir"
It's like one of those trades from the video games where you toss in a bunch of stuff that has absolutely no value for one of their best players and the other GM goes "our fans will be dancing in the streets when we announce this deal."

I think this trade is a pretty good indicator that they will extend Kreider unless they get really good value. But I like kreider and would definitely prefer him over a low first.
I think it's quite the opposite. Kreider should be putting his apartment up on Air BNB and asking Cam Talbot which restaurants in Edmonton are good.

When I saw this trade I thought it had to be a typo because this is wild. I think rangers might be i

We are not buying anyone out. That would kill our cap when we are able to be cup contenders.

Especially when we sign trouba to a 7 year 7m aav

Quinn went away from breakup day saying the Rangers needed to work on and fix their D. This IMO goes a long way towards this. Even if we keep Shattenkirk he'll be properly slotted--same with DeAngelo--same with Fox. We don't have to force any of them to be #1RD's. The Rangers had a real issue keeping defensive structure and controlling the slot area in front of their goalies. Trouba's big and has no problem playing mean.

underline:
no ? he has been a disappointment, but I grade on a curve here cuz it was truly due to injury.
I could see DeAngelo moved in a big package at a big profit.
Then Skirk would eat mins for a year.
If we get good offers and he's willing to go, then sure, move Kevin.

bold:
thanks so much for the kind word.
I remain persona non grata for those threads due to my insistence on Nieves, and I will not back down.
Hopefully excess vets are dealt, Andersson and Howden are repurposed at a premium, and I will be proven right.

There are real world demands on my time atm, but I have always respected your posts, even if I did not agree 111% of the time. Feel free to pm/converse with me at any time.
