@bernmeister where you at bro
Hey HG, nee Jonathan!
A friend to us all...
thanks for invoking my name, and not in vain!

So have been squeezing this into my schedule at the big board.

I had previously said a fair offer was
Howden
for
Trouba straight up, no conditional picks etc if he extends w/us.

I believe 20OA is ballpark similar to where Howden was selected and he still has 2 elc yrs remaining.

I then said, since there is a chance he could go to FL, and we see this guy WILL do what HE wants to do, the smart move is to flip him IMMEDIATELY to FL, the core piece returning being their 2019 1st [13 if I remember] and they should use that on Seider.

Here's what I posted at the big board:
Now as I also said, the smart move would be not to wait for FL. Not much leverage besides TB, but FL looks like the place.

Now they can drag it out for nothing, or we can send em Trouba now.

We will do Trouba for 13OA + another 1st protected if during next 3 years he extends w/FL for at least 5 yrs.

To facilitate that, and provide cap space we add
expiring Namest at half = 2 and expiring Vesey = 2.275
for
Pysyk 2.733,333 expiring + Hoffman 5.187,500 expiring
ballpark that's
Trouba's rfa rights + 4.75 in F stopgap
vs
picks + 8m expiring sniper + RD help

which gives FL net gain of 3.25 help to sign him long term right now.

something like that

ps - feel free to pm / 'converse' w/me and let me know how the other half lives.
look into a glass onion, bro...

I don't think the Ducks would make that trade. Shattenkirk and Perry is a swap of vets who are grossly under performing their contracts. Plus Henrique is signed for like 5 more years.

An old an slow Perry is easier to bury on the 4th line than and old and slow Shattenkirk is on the 3rd pairing. Especially with the competition at RD now.

Doesn't help the Rangers though. That's $8M in dead space, and a terrible buyout. The biggest question is where would Kevin accept a trade to?

Kreider or Buch, and Vesey.

Following the Trouba deal, if the Rangers have a FWD contract they can lineup with Shatty, I think they’d also take that into account.

So all things being equal, I get the sense the Rangers would love to:

1. Move Buch/Kreider to get their guy in the draft, and move Vesey as part of another deal. It’s possible he could join Kreider/Buch, but I only see that happening in one potential scenario.

2. Move Shatty for a similar contract on the wings.

3. See Fox make squad out of camp.

Essentially replace Kreider, Vesey, Pionk and Shatty on the roster with Kravtsov, Kakko, Fox, Trouba, and the forward they get for Shatty, plus have the forward they take in 2019 join the squad in 2020.

Shattenkirk for Saad

Shattenkirk for Steen

Shattnkirk for Backes

All hail our new lord and saviour

Chytil, Howden, Lias, Kakko, Kravtsov (possibly), Fox, Hajek, ADA, Georgie/Shesty, Trouba, etc When was the last time we got to see legit young talents play like this??? There used to be days when I was super excited to see a Mike York or Malhotra play and develop. Thank you JG

Lol, could you imagine? That would be the ultimate troll move.
I have been pushing for his return, a free asset, repurpose the younger pivots, and ...
well you know how I roll.

Do not want Perry, my understanding his knees are shot.
Would rather see if kevin can return to form after injury.

Also, if there is enuf on the table, no one is safe, I'd move DeAngelo, and that having Shatty here helps.

It's been years since my mouth has been watering to go to MSG. I actually wanna see this team the way it's shaping up.

Do you remember the games last year where the Rangers would have a single period of complete dominance? That’s what Quinn’s system is supposed to be, but the Rangers didn’t have the players to sustain it for longer than that.

So between the coach and the way the roster is starting to come into focus (still a ways off)... things are exciting around here.

great trade for rangers but the Jets were in a very difficult situation and the rangers took full advantage. Jets are in salary cap hell and have to re-sign laine and connors to huge deals so they couldnt take a lot of salary in return.. plus trouba wanted out for a long time. Losing trouba is a devastating blow for the jets.... they no longer have a championship caliber blueline. trouba was a bit of a headcase but a lot of that was due to not wanting to be in winnipeg. You guys got a great player entering his prime.

They'd obviously be betting on him having a better season now that he's not coming off of knee surgery. He brings a physical element that the Rangers clearly want in their lineup as well.

If you assume all of the Canadian teams are on his no-trade list that ticks 6 of the 10 boxes. Not sure who the other teams would be.
