Having said that, you really can’t do better than the price they paid.

Number one or not, he’ll be eating hardest minutes at 22 or so per game while letting ADA and Fox share PP duties and softer match ups.

The Rangers loved Trouba from before he was drafted.

Remember the chit chat in the draft thread about combine interviews? He also made an impression in 2012.

This trade perfectly fits Gorton's mantra since the rebuild began. He's consistently talked about using their assets to acquire young, talented players, basically since day 1. The Fox deal and now this deal are perfect examples him executing that strategy.

I don’t see them moving ADA because they can’t move Shatty.

It’s somewhat possible they get to a point where they cut bait on ADA, however unlikely. But I don’t see it being related to Shatty.

I truly though a Trouba trade was going to happen but I am amazed at the low cost. This is incredibly good news. The Rangers now have a stud 25 year old first pair defenseman at an incredibly low cost. Wow, just Wow!

I'm ecstatic. I really am. But reading the tweet that said we weren't allowed to talk to Trouba, makes me think he is looking for a shit ton of money. Like north of $8.5 million per year. I wonder if that is why we got him for such a steal.

I think Shatty will be gone, one way or another. It's possible he's kept as the 7th dman, but I'm sure Gorton will do whatever he can to move him.

To me, them not letting him talk to teams screams of Chevy being a dick about the whole thing with Trouba not wanting to stay in Winnipeg. This has been going on for 4 years now, really. Which isn’t to say that Trouba wasn’t being a dick about it too.

But it still seems petulant to me on Chevy’s part.
