You're ignoring the fact that Dubas is negotiating with Holmgren.
Maybe they should wait a bit on the Flyers... Holmgren is interviewing Nonis for the GM job.

Can’t trade him for crap either.
I think Nylander is a great asset in the regular season. He has not proven to be a playoff guy...yet. Which is really what the leafs need.
I doubt he signs, I think he sits a year. He has no leverage, he is under control ...simple. Is his production due to his skill alone or due to Matthews? Kapenanen had a boost in points with Matthews.
I would trade him to the oilers. In return Evan Bouchard has to be in the trade. I would also like to see a strong big forward who can be a factor, a player like Tom Wilson although I don’t think the oilers have a player like that. So who else, maybe pulaavari a skilled player who is a middle 6 guy and then maybe a third round draft pick.
I agree, but we can argue his value forever, the point of my post was it doesn't necessarily have to be a RHD. We could get assets to then trade for that RHD from someone else.
Everyone says Carolina needs offense, but from where I'm sitting, not really. So maybe we trade for several assets, to then make the trade with them.
Not everyone wants to take Nylander at 7M and give up their young RHD, so you do it in a more round about way. That was the point. The value is whatever Dubas and the GMs think the value is, who the hell am I or anyone in here to say otherwise. We are just schleps at our computers.
What a horrendous trade. Nylander is an elite winger and you want to trade him for scraps. Let him sit if that’s the offer but that is beyond horrible
The deadline is 5pm Eastern, December 1st.Watch the Leafs wait till 12:01am to sign him then the NHL gets mad and voids it.
There's no chance in hell they would deal Provorov.
I know Holmgren is an idiot, but if he's thinking about trading his 1D because he hasn't put up enough points in the first 25 games of the season then it's time to put him in a white padded room.
Gostisbehere is the opposite of what the leafs need and Provorov isn't being moved.
So Sanheim + ?
Couple very good prospects plus a 1 first on a team that isn't very good, absolutely.
Toronto needs cap relief, desperately. We can't have 40m tied up in 4 forwards.
Petry would fit the leafs like a glove.
I know, I was thinking that the NHL would see it is obvious cap circumvention. If they found out that they had all agreed upon a deal when they met.The deadline is 5pm Eastern, December 1st.
We don't.Toronto needs cap relief, desperately. We can't have 40m tied up in 4 forwards.
100%.
He's one of the most underrated players right now imo.
One of the only good things I think MB has done.
Yet, Habs fans still crap all over him. No idea why.
We'll take him...what's the ask tho?
I agree with your general premise. Getting good young players on ELC and draft picks could very well be Dubas' plan if he decides to move Nylander. It helps extend the Leafs window of contention. However I don't think Philly entertains moving their 1st round pick this year (without some type of lottery protection).Couple very good prospects plus a 1 first on a team that isn't very good, absolutely.

He would, not at the cost of Nylander. I can see the Leafs offering Gards + Brown/B prospect but that’s about it.Petry would fit the leafs like a glove.
If you don’t get what you want for Nylander you don’t make the trade . Screw everyone else. it’s not the Leafs job to make other teams better.
Not much fans crap on him tbh... it’s just some night he can play like s bonafide 1D and some game have brain cramps, it also has alot to do with his surroundings. He’s such a fluid skater tho it’s unreal.100%.

Funny... on the Canes board we're saying it's not the 30 other NHL team's job to solve Toronto's cap problems. I guess we'll have some resolution in just over 24 hours....
