That doesn’t sound very promising, but Swedes do tend to peak later and age well. I expect Nylander to out-perform Benn in his 30’s.
It is like me and you staying close to Usain Bolt for the first 5 meters of a 100-metre race. Pay me!!What's this supposed to mean? Those are far better players than Nylander.
Toronto needs another team ASAP……….
And that's illogical how?
As it stands at this very moment he's a career high 87 point player. That was last year, and he's a 27 year old player - smack dab in the middle of his prime. What he's doing now is the anomaly - not the other way around. I like Nylander too but we can be realistic about the player now that he's not underpaid anymore.
Love to hear the logic behind this one.![]()
I agree.
Leafs would be my team, but I'd be okay with others moving on.
Nylander hardly has any miles on him, while a player like Benn has plenty. That doesn’t sound very promising, but Swedes do tend to peak later and age well. I expect Nylander to out-perform Benn in his 30’s.
The reality is that we cannot accurately judge this deal until we see how other comparable players are paid this summer and beyond. This may very well be the first of many contracts like this, in which case it's better to get out ahead of it.Ya, I know that. I'm just saying, tongue in cheek, that this is on the unreasonably high end. There should have been no argument for more than this.
Avoiding contact all those years will pay off.Nylander hardly has any miles on him, while a player like Benn has plenty.
I am holding out hope( misplaced for sure) that Nylander reads the room and last minute knocks off 1.5 per year as a belated Christmas present to all long suffering fans
If Nylander had a 50-goal (doesn't even need to be 60) season prior to this contract and showed that kind of ability - I wouldn't complain. It is like me and you staying close to Usain Bolt for the first 5 meters of a 100-metre race. Pay me!!
hopefully he doesn't revert back to that now that he's fat and happy.Avoiding contact all those years will pay off.
Pastrnak just signed for $11.25, and is a superior player…so there’s thatThe reality is that we cannot accurately judge this deal until we see how other comparable players are paid this summer and beyond. I think Nylander traditionally struggled to put up the point totals that accurately reflected his skill level. I don’t think he struggles with it anymore and he seems to enjoy kind of being The Man. I think he’s found a new level.
Schief signed this summer for 8.5m with a team that he was rumoured to want out. Look at those huge bonuses. Leafs management is a pushover because they are a cash cow.Pastrnak just signed for $11.25, and is a superior player…so there’s that
Nylander is better than Schiefle though. Not really a comparable.Schief signed this summer for 8.6m with a team that he was rumoured to want out. Look at those huge bonuses. Leafs management is a pushover because they are a cash cow.

Oh and BTW did you know Schief and his Jets are in 1st place and they actually can afford a goalie and depth.
