F*ck cancer - RIP Fugu and Buffaloed
Seems like Shanahan has PTSD from moving core players like Kadri and Hyman, that he's afraid to do it with the big 3 so that they don't go elsewhere and win.
Feel bad for Rielly. Clearly took less than what he could have got to help the team and then his teammates just milk every single possible dollar that they can
I think Shanahan is just stubborn and egotistical.Seems like Shanahan has PTSD from moving core players like Kadri and Hyman, that he's afraid to do it with the big 3 so that they don't go elsewhere and win.
This honestly makes zero sense. Don’t know what Tre and Shanny are thinking.
This is obviously an overpayment, so I won’t even get into that. But even if you do think he is worth this contract, why do this now? You’ve increased your offer by 2.5M based on 35 games? Why not just wait until the end of the season.
Our GMs suck at negotiations.
The NMC hurts more than the actual AAVHonest question. For anyone out there...
Would you or would not feel a lot more comfortable having paid 11.5m and retained the right to trade him. (Even if you give him 3 years of NMC)
and at the end of the day we will get our shit pushed in once again, by teams who have players who make less, work harder and play as a team.Exactly have 6 or 7 guys that have made it and 15 working their arse off to get there. The middle of the road guys can play somewhere else.
the NMC hurts because the AAV sucks. The NMC hurts more than the actual AAV
The question I have is when you’re on the cusp of $92 million (Michael Nylander’s number, btw) do you take the TTC to the signing?

Yeah of course I would feel more comfortable with no NMC. Who wouldn’t? Or maybe I don’t understand your question?Honest question. For anyone out there...

Sure but in theory, a player this age would drive the cap down for term. Giving off prime years at a healthy cap is a gift to a typical player. It pledges the guys future to the team without gambling on extracting more money from expected cap increases. Short term contracts aren't a gift to the team either.
WHAT IN THE ACTUAL SHIT THERE Treliving? WTF? You gave full NMC/NTC and are now throwing spewing philosophical quotes like WTF

i dont get the happy for the 8 years thing from people, if he had signed for 8 years on his 1st contract i would have agreed, this one is better for him than it is for the leafs imoA little higher than I would have liked but also happy to have Nylander sticking around. Love the commitment to sign for 8 years.
Because it finally shows commitment to the organization from a star player. Other organizations constantly lock up their star players to max term while the Leafs kept getting hosed on both term and dollar. At least we got the term finally with Rielly and now Nylander. The cap hit is a little higher than I would have liked but for 1 million extra, I’d rather overpay Nylander than a Kampf. Once JT’s contract comes off the books, this cap hit won’t be nearly as bad.i dont get the happy for the 8 years thing from people, if he had signed for 8 years on his 1st contract i would have agreed, this one is better for him than it is for the leafs imo
It’s not a commitment out of a sense of loyalty, but rather because he penetrated Toronto and than left before breakfastA little higher than I would have liked but also happy to have Nylander sticking around. Love the commitment to sign for 8 years.
Dubas didn’t like term, he was too smart for that.Because it finally shows commitment to the organization from a star player. ye but other organizations do it on contracts of players going into their prime, not retirement contracts lolBecause it finally shows commitment to the organization from a star player. I'm definitely not a fan of a NMC given for the duration of the deal. Realistically though, what might the trade return look like for a player with an 11.5M AAV contract?Honest question. For anyone out there...

depends on performance, a top 10 scorer im sure the return will be huge, a sub ppg player, probably much less huge lol.I'm definitely not a fan of a NMC given for the duration of the deal. Realistically though, what might the trade return for a player with an 11.5M AAV contract look like?
Nylander is 27, players with strong skating abilities usually play longer. Not to mention who knows where the cap will be in years 6 to 8. 11.5 million might be a normal salary for a second liner.ye but other organizations do it on contracts of players going into their prime, not retirement contracts lol
